Stalls within seconds. I have to keep giving it gas to ensure I can get the car to gear and be on my way. No problems with stalling once it is in gear and going. Now it also every once in a while wont start at all (leave it for several hours and it goes again). Wiper (rear) stopped working and the hatch disengage buttons don't work?? 2002 ford (problem after problem) focus

I suspect it is a problem with the evaporative emission system. Basically, it collects vapors from the fuel tank and stores them in a charcoal canister in the engine compartment. It thens purges them into the engine when the engine is warm and running at road speed. You may be dumping too much vapor because your canister is filling with fule as well as vapor.
Do you try to "nurse" teh tank full at the fuel station? If yes, you may be flooding the canister.
Try just filling it 3/4 each time & see if problem goes away.

this is all to common a problem with the wipers, it is caused by the combination wiper switch, it makes connection all by itself, Ford has issued a TSB (tenhnical service bulliten) on this problem, replace the switch.

You may have a very gummy deposit on the glass in the 12:00 position that the wiper fluid is not removing. Run your hand over the glass area after it has been cleaned by the wiper. If your hand drags on the surface, try various solvents (alcohol, turpentine, paint thinner, TSP detergent, etc.) (keep it off of the paint!!!) to get it free of the sticky substance. Also, clean the wiper blade rubber with whatever works. The fact that the wiper seems to work correctly when the glass is wet, would seem to indicate that there is no problem with the motor, or the drive mechanism. It is also receiving sufficient power in that it blows the fuse when stalled. Hope this helps!

try running a ground wire from the case of the wiper motor to the battery negative and see if the wipers work.

First lets focus on the car not idling properly. You should get the trouble codes read out. You can use a free loaner meter from many auto parts stores. Try Advance Auto, Autozone, VIP, CarQuest etc etc. The codes should point you to problems and you can add a comment. Please check the fuse for the wiper.
