1996 Pontiac Grand AM V6 Anti-Theft Activated

I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand AM V6 and the Anti-Theft turned on when i switched out my IPC because the original one was broken (not useable). Now my car will start and run for 5 seconds then shut off and the Anti-Theft Telltale blinks. I do not have the Transponder Key for the car either. Is there a Module or another way to bypass this completely? Can I switch out the IPC, Lock Cylinder, Ignition Switch & Computer from another 96 Grand AM?

Had similar problem that is a seemingly impossible to bypass (tried 1500 ohm resistor and still could not match the electrical current in the anti-thefy system) so standard pice wont work. But if u swich the whole lock cylinder from another grand am it should work becuase it has the same electrical current is flowing wich needs to be active at all times for the car not to shut off right away (there is no chip in the key at all)

2 options, flash computer to brand new computer for about $350 at dealership or have dealership fix problem for about $250 to $400

Try this first, it takes about 30 min to do. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted, be glad to help

Or Disconnect battery positive then leave it for 30 min. - reconnect and start car . A whole lot of info about Bypassing GM passkey ll anti - theft is on google . The computer chip wears out etc. It was A Really Useless Idea invented By Overpriced suit & Ties . Best security ever is Big Dog in front passenger seat . Good Luck .

1996 2.4 grand am acts like its trying to start but shuts off. fuel is getting up to front fuel pump work but car doesn't start

you should have the fuel pressure tested with a gage as if its too low it will not start.without the gage you won`t know the what the pressure actually is.also if you have anti-theft on the car it may have been activated not allowing the car to start.

If the key was a transponder key, then you will most likely need to take the VIN number to the dealer or a lock smith that makes transponder keys to get a key that will start it. Hopefully you will not have to have it towed to a dealer to have the key made.
