You could have dirt in your fuel tank.

The easy way: Try filling it up and then jump up and down on the rear bumper to disloge the float.

The hard way: Remove the fuel tank, remove the float and check for damage.

Why does the fuel gauge stay on full all the time?

Fuel sender unit could be faulty and showing a full tank all the time. Basically the gauge is a volt meter and the float arm adjusts the voltage going to the fuel gauge when it moves up and down. If it's stuck for some reason it'll show full when it's at the top.

A local garage or auto centre can fix this easily or if you're good with spanners, it's usually located under the rear passenger seat where you can find the access to the top of the tank.

2006 Dodge Durango - Fuel gauge stuck on full, and won't move? What's wrong?

Either the circuit is shorted to ground, or shorted to power.
The sending unit in the tank provides ground to the gauge.
I would disconnect the harness at the tank and see what the gauge does. You may need a new sending unit.
