'dont remember any. Be sure you have the joint square with the knuckle when installing... If it cocks to one side, it will jam. take care not to damage the boot. When using fork, it can damage stuff . I refrain from using it as much as possible, using a good sized hammer and giving a shot on the side of pin recievers (like where tie rod end goes through arm on knuckle) this saves tearing tie rod end boot. When in doubt get a manual...any more questions, ask!!

I'm going to guess since you didn't mention which fluid...Transmission?
First find out which unit you have (usually an id tag on it somewhere ) Then look up what kind and how much fluid in your owners manual (usually around four quarts...unit holds more but you can't remove it from the pan) Remove all pan bolts and lower pan. (some units have a drain plug, use it first if you have one ) you will see the filter attached to the valve body. remove it and install the new one, Make sure all gasket material is removed from pan and trans. Clean any metal etc from pan and internal magnet (there is always some in there but should not be a ton of it) Then put pan and gasket back. Make sure you can turn each fastener easily to make sure they are not cross threaded and only tighten them after they are all in there. Bolts do not have to be tightened down like they never should be removed again (snug then a little bit more)tighten in an X pattern not a circle.Replace about half of the fluid with car off, then put in remainder while running. Put your foot on the brake and shift to reverse then drive a few times then check fluid level.Low is bad, a tiny bit (less than half inch) over is OK.
Drive for a short ride, check again for leaks and re-tighten if any are found.
If trans was exceptionally dirty and yours has a drain plug, I recommend that you use a generic oil on the first change, then in a week, drain oil again and re-fill with good brand name stuff. and perhaps a bottle of lucas conditioner.
Good luck!

Ball joints on those require a special hand held press. Though you can rent one of those I've found that the job requires a good degree of experience in addition to the proper tools.
First, obtain a manual such as haynes or chiltons to guide you through the teardown (up to where you actually get to the ball joints themselves...the bj removal isn't listed in those manuals for the reason I stated). You then need to use the press to drive the old unit from the axle housing end. Reverse the process using the press to re-install. The largest problem is that the presses available usually don't properly fit the joint. As you drive the joint in, you need to be extremely careful to keep it straight and make sure it does not get bent anywhere.
I have found that if you freeze the joint and warm up (using a regular propane torch and, not glowing hot) the receiver where the joint is inserted, the job goes a bit better, BUT you need to work fast or any benefit is lost. I also use silicone spray to make the parts slide together easier.
Having experience helps in that it gives you the ability to work fast enough to get it done before the parts return to normal temps. The joints themselves aren't all that difficult in concept but are far more difficult to get them in than they are on any ordinary car.
Can a novice do the job? Yes....but you will find it to be fairly difficult and may wish you'd have brought it it a shop instead. I say this only because I have the experience and still cringe whenever I need to do one.
good luck
Testimonial: "Thanks for the advice, i got someone to do it for $2oo if i supply the parts, not bad for both sides right? I am mechanicaly inclined, just never did "

P0301 is #1 cylinder misfire detected and is most likely related to a worn spark plug that is need of replacement. All plugs should be replaced if replacing one. Not sure how many miles you have on this vehicle, or if plugs were ever installed, but this is the basic step to take in diagnosis.
