You need to get a manual for this. Plus, do you have the tools to do this job. Believe me, you will need specialty tools. I would have to write a book to get you threw it. Good luck, if your a novice. Follow the manual.....
the most obvious cause is the head gasket ,its failing and drawing in the water so no problems with overheating or pressuring the system ,never mind the weekend mechanics who know more with the amount of beer they drink ,its failing as most gaskets will around the 100,000 mile mark regardless of make or model
I have an owners manual in PDF that i can send you if you want. Email me at [email protected] with your make, model & year and i will be happy to email you a copy. I may have a service or haynes manual on PDF fomat as well but will need to make sure. If you email me for the owners manual if i do have the service manual i will send that as well just remind me to look. Have a great day.
tHIS WILL TURN ON AND KEEP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, MOST OF THE ENGINE BLOCKS ARE THE SAME BUT ARE BUILT A LITTLE STRONGER TO WITHSTAND THE TURBO, IF HE CONNECTS THE TURBO AND YOU DONT BEAT ON THE MOTOR I THINH YOU WILL BE OKAY, HAVE HIM USE ALL THE OLD PARTS LIKE INTAKE INJECTORS OIL PAN EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND I THINK IT WILL BE FINE, HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL,
You will have to go to a Volvo dealer & pay up the nose or go to this website here below and save some money doing it yourself.
They will instruct you how to do it also
Water in combustion chamber makes white smoke--suspect that the head gasket is leaking water into the chamber. If oil leaking around turbo, it may have a bad bearing and bad oil seal. Check waste gate valve and control.
Could be the Turbo oil return pipe seal, its a cheap about $10 but you need to get to the pipe. Its just a bit tricky to reach and you will need the gasket to go on the other end of the pipe when you take it off. Its a well know fault check the Volvo Forums web site.
