There are 2 times as many dimes as nickels, and the value of the dimes is $1.65 more than the value of the nickels. How many nickels and dimes are there.

There are a couple of ways to figure it out, one uses algebra (ugh), the other a bit of multiplication. I choose multiplication.

Fact: Since there are twice as many dimes as nickels, we can deduce that for every two dimes there is one nickel. Thus, if we start with two dimes and one nickel, we can see that there is a difference of fifteen cents in value. Knowing that for every two dimes and one nickel we add we will increase the difference by fifteen cents, we need only divide the difference (1.65) by fifteen and that is the multiplier we need to get the proper number of coins.

165 divided by 15 = 11.
So, two dimes times 11 = 22 domes or $2.20.
One nickel times 11 = 11 nickels or $0.55.
Note there are twice as many dimes as nickels.
Note that $2.20 minus $0.55 -= $1.65.

Will a P1404 code cause transmission shift difficulties on a 2002 Kia Spectra?

it shouldn't have any ill effects on the way the trans is shifting... I would be saving my nickles and dimes because this isn;t going to be a cheap fix

How to get 2000 Toyota 4Runner out of gear when battery is dead?

There is a shift lock override button on the shifter in the upper left corner, it may have a small cover on it the size of a dime or smaller. Pop this cover off and press the button inside. This will work.

The shifter of my 2005 Nissan Titan is stuck

If you have the console shift (gear selector in between the seats) there is a shift release button. Nest to the shifter there is a round cover, about dime size. Take a small flat screwdriver and carefully pop that out. Under that cover is a button, you push it and it should release the shifter.

Gear Shift Display

Just fixed this on my '99 Expedition the other day. Found the fix on an F150 website. If you stick your head under the dash, you will see a small (size of a dime) black wheel in a white bracket near the steering shaft. There is a small, copper colored cable coming out of the end. This connects the indicator to the shift arm. If you can adjust the wheel, you can reset the indicator. My plastic bracket was broken, so I just looped a small cable tie around the assembly to pull the indicator back to where it now shows "P" when in Park instead of showing "R".
