Sounds like you should take it to a qualified repair shop. You don't have any automotive diagnostic skills . Electrical trouble shooting , using wiring diagrams along with a DMM - digital multi-meter . Checking main electrical circuit's , battery cable connections etc...

make sure to check your fuses and ground wires first. when you are set on which part is bad do a quick check of everything else before you jump into it.

It is probably a bit different on the 4-cyl engines than the V6 engines. I'll assume you have the V6 for the moment since those seemed to be more popular.
On the 3.5L V6, the drain plug is behind the passenger side wheel well and I believe takes a 17mm socket/wrench to remove.

Removing the battery cable is something the alarm companies no the theifs can do. Find the valet button, this along with a few steps that you can find with your alarm manual will reset the system.

sounds like a throttle sensor fault do to the fact that the saturn vue doesnt idle at 500 normally its uaually between 600-800. i suggest getting it hooked to a diagnostic machine to find wat the codes are cause im sure it will be several.
