1999 E350. Turn key, click but no start. New battery, replaced ignition lock cylinder, no joy. With old switch used to be able to jiggle steering wheel/shift lever and sometimes get results. Ideas?
Did you replace the ignition lock, or switch ?
Will it crank if you jumper the solenoid for the starter ?
Testimonial: "Replaced the key cylinder column "switch" that releases by pressing a ball through the hole in the column plastic shrouding. Haven't yet tried jumping the solenoid. May be able to give that a shot tomorrow, depending on the weather (van is outside and I'm in the Midwest."

Hi what is happening is that your turn off your car and left the wheels turned to one side and specially if your car is parke in a hill what you have to do is to force the steering wheel to the same direction of your wheels this will free up the ignition switch it is going to be hard let me tell you but it will work and this is why your shift don't work once you have the ignition switch free then your shift will work again

If you do not have a pass key any more, then you will need to dissable the antitheft (pass key module) in order for the engine to turn over. From what I gather you have replaced the column with an older version, which will not allow any comm. with the module. The pass key module enables the starter circuit. See diagram.

replace the floor shifter. there is a switch on the shifter that allows the key to move. gm has had alot of problems with these shifters.
