Places I would check would be thermostat and heater core. To check the thermostat, take it out of the truck and bring it in the house, get a pot of water boiling on your stove. Once the water gets to a boil ( or close to boil 190 deg F ) put the thermostat into the water and if it is working you will see it spring open. The heater core I would recommend changing it if your smelling coolant in the truck. Even if your not seeing a leak inside it could still be leaking. Check eBay and Amazon for pricing if you can afford to wait 7-10 days for shipping. Hope this helps, and happy wrenching

It's not a pump problem. Check the thermostat and coolant flow through the heater itself.

Is the engine fan staying engaged? If so this will not allow you to build addequate engine temp. especially while driving.

a bad heater core will just leak. it could leak alot. do you ever smell antifreeze? check the coolant level. it can get pretty low before it will overheat. the thermostat should be ok but there could be corrosion. when you had the water pump replaced was the cooling system flushed? 2001, its probably due for a flush. what coolant does it take? (green or orange)

The first thing I would check would be....be sure that the compressor is definitely coming on, if not check the connections. If the compressor is running physically touch the large line coming from the compressor, this should be cold to the touch. if that's the case your problem is going to be inside under the dash on the temperature controlled door. This door is controlled by a vacuum operated solenoid. Check the vacuum line that feeds this solenoid for leaks or vacuum in general. If you have vacuum but the valve is still not operating, replace the valve and enjoy your a/c. Hope this helps, good luck!

Can low engine coolant prevent the heat from working

not really. if you are getting different air flow at different fan speeds then the problem is the mixing door that allows warm air thru to mix with the ambient air. something is preventing it from opening if you are not getting heat.
if your fan speed stays constant then something is either blocking the fan output or something is wrong with the fan itself.
check your temp gauge. if it is getting hotter then you are losing coolant and need to fix that ASAP.
last, depending on where you live, you could conceivably be not getting hot enough air. I had a car 23 years ago like that. At temps below 0F it just wouldn't get warm enough to put hot air in the car and I had to wear gloves, jacket, neckwarmer, and hat to stay semi-warm. I actually had to block off part of the radiator with a cardboard sheet. to get some heat in the car.

My heat in my 99 dodge intrepid is blowing cold air. I got a radiator flush and the heating core is working. What is wrong with my heat.

could be the thermostat has gone bad. this would over-cool the engine and keep the coolant from getting hot enuf to warm the heater core.

My 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel is not putting out hot air, air comes out the vents I select and fan works fine but at best it will only put out slightly warm air. If I turn the fan up past the first...

Check your anti freeze level.... Also, is your engine heating okay, may be the thermostat? Anything else, find where both radiator lines go into the firewall, if the engine is hot, both lines should be hot, if one is hot and the other cold, you need to look at the heater core..

Lack of heat coming from the heater. Used to heat you out of the truck and now it feels more like luke warm air. 2006 dodge Ram one ton truck. Any ideas

turn the fan off and let it run for 5 minutes then fan on. should be hot if it is and gets cooler as it runs the heat core is partialy plugged if not you have no circulation check the water pump circuit to heater

Started out with cold air coming out the vents

I'm no 'expert' but it sounds like possibly 2 different problems. Your heat comes from warm/hot coolant circulating through the heater core, and the fan blowing air through/over it. If your thermostat is not opening the coolant won't circulate. Thermostat is a not too difficult or costly starting place. No air flow leads me to think you have a blower motor issue, perhaps start with the fuse. Hope this helps.

You have a bad heater valve, operated by vaccuum or cable its on the hot water line on its way to the heater core.

No rear heat in pontiac montana '99

Warm up vehicle, then access heater pipes that run to rear of vehicle.  they should be HOT. if not you have  a circulation issue.  IF they are hot, then the blend door is not in the correct position.  this door directs air across a hot or cold core to create the correct air temp. check and update me.
