1997 Honda Passport. Merely a ''click'' when turning ignition

1997 Honda Passport. Start problem. Turn ignition on, get a ''click'', turn if all the way off, maybe pump gas and/or break once, turn it on again, ''click''. Eventually after repeated tries it starts. Normally this is not any of the ''grrrrr'' like it is trying to start, just a click.

Any ideas to cause?

Battery checks out, has power, etc. Lights (dash/head/tail/signal) come on ok. Have not checked/cleaned battery terminals yet.

Suspect the immobilisor here but i am often wrong ,if its not reading it will not allow the starter to turn ,normal fault is the switch but this has been changed ,check the transponder ring in case it was damaged when changing the parts

My 1997 accord will not start. put new battery did not work. the starter will not turn when you turn the key. have had problem with ignition switch not wanting to turn but play with it and it will turn.

Do you hear a click when you the the key to start? Have seen many times the contacts in the starter get damaged. If no click or anything, I would start at the switch.

My 1996 honda passport lx wont start

If you here a clicking noise when you turn key, starter motor could be duff.
If no clicking noise solenoid possibly not working. Check wiring and current to solenoid and starter motor first.

1995 honda passport won't turn over when cold

Your starter solenoid is bad. It comes with a new starter. Replace the starter and your problem should go away.

When I turn the ignition on on my 1998 Honda Passport everything works fine and then the ignition to START and it blows a fuse and will not start

What fuse? Is it an ignition fuse? You could go to autozone.com and get free wire digrams. All you need to do is register which is also free. The diagram may show the fuse panel and you can trace what fuse is blowing to what it powers.

My 97 honda passport has no electrical power and wont turn over or run. checked battery, cables, and fuses. someone advised may be related to a fuel pump issue. what do you think

you would want to check the ignition switch since this is the area that everything goes through all your power for everything in the car goes through it, its in the column and should have visible or audible signs of wear if that is it

My 1999 Honda passport won't start. All power still works.(Lights, radio etc.) When I tried to turn the ignition on, the car just kept on making a clicking sound.

You need to see if your battery voltage is dropping or if your starter is bad. If you still have the original battery in it that is probably the problem. Try to jump the battery. If it starts you have your answer. If not it may be a bad starter. If you have a volt meter you can check the battery's voltage while trying to start the car. Hope this helps!

My 95 Honda Passport won't start

If you don't hear a click when you turn key to Start, check that the small wire onto the starter solenoid has a good connection. If you do hear the click, check that the large wire going between solenoid and battery has good connections..hope this helps.

96 passport batt good starter getting power just

Have you tried bypassing the ignition? Turn the key to the on position and cross the starter terminals with a screwdriver. If it starts then you will need a new ignition or possibly a new ignition module.
