Question about 1999 Nissan Altima
I have a 1999 Nissan Altima 5-speed manual. My son pulled up to an intersection and stop light. He tried to pull out, but the car didn't move as if it was in neutral and the tach surged to 6000 as he pushed on the gas. He let off the gas, shifted to second and back to first, and the car pulled out slowly. He tried to drive it home about a mile and had to shift down to first at a few stoplights and signs. When he tried to speed up to get to second gear, he ran it up to 5-6000 to get enough road speed to hit second gear. The engine rpm ran to about 3500-4000 as he tried to maintain speed in second gear. When he got home after about a mile, he rolled it into a parking spot and tried to shift into reverse to back out of the road. The car would not move in reverse, and there was a smell similar to a burning clutch or brake pad. I went outside to try the vehicle. I depressed the clutch pedal, which felt normal in tension,m started the engine (which started normally) shifted the gear handle into reverse, added gas, and got no movement. Same in 1st gear. Any ideas
