I have a 2000 pontiac montana minivan The low pressure light is on. before that. the change oil light had been on for some time and i did not change the oil

I believe i put more than 4000 miles on this oil change. The change oil light came on first. Then i seemed to have a small oil leak from somewhere so i had to add oil periodically. I did not change the oil. The the low oil pressure light came and the alarm was sounding. I found the oil filter to be loose. So i tightened it. Still have the low pressure oil light on and alarm still sounding with oil to the full line.

Could be one of several issues. You may want to add a thicker oil which may help when the vehicle is hot after long runs. There is a product out there called: "Lucas", may want to add per specifications.

If changing oil viscosity does not help, may want to perform a compression test which may indicate worn pistons rings. Based on year, you may have lots of miles and worn internal parts. While driving, do you see smoke coming out of the tail pipe ?

Do you see any other leaks in the engine compartment ? If too dirty, may want to steam clean or use any after market products to clean your engine so that you can check for leaks.

Unfortunately, it sounds like your problem is one of the following, either:

A) A weak or failing oil pump which should be replaced immediately to avoid serious engine damage.

Or

B) A bad oil pressure sensor.

I would recommend having the vehicles electronic codes read, AutoZone will do this for free if you ask them. This should help you determine if the sensor is the problem or the pump.

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix is loosing coolant and

Try getting your local mechanic to pressure test it. The can pump up the system and check for leaks.
Also the head gasket might have a minor leak. It may only leak once engine cools, the head shrinks and then water leaks out

Light is on and pressure bell is ringing. oil is full- please tell me its not a huge problem

MOST(!) of the time, it is the pressure sensor that has failed. If the engine does not seem overly loud (it will, without any oil pressure), I would say this is your problem. If you aren't sure you can recognize the sensor (it will normally have a single wire and a hex fitting for removal), I suggest you buy a manual for your Montana and the pressure sensor at the same time. I like Haynes manuals and they can be found on line, at eBay or sometimes, even at a local library. If, however, your engine IS loud, it shouldn't be driven under its own power at all until the source of the failure is found.

Oil Light is on need to Reset it. Don't have manaual.

Do you mean the "Oil" light or the "Oil Life System" light?
.
If the oil light is on, you need to stop operating the engine and have it checked to find out why the light is telling you that there is no oil pressure.

If you mean the Oil Life light, Then here are the instructions:

How to Reset the CHANGE ENGINE OIL Message

1. With the ignition key in RUN but the engine off,

fully push and release the accelerator pedal slowly

three times within five seconds.

2. Turn the key to OFF.

If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes

back on, the engine oil life monitor has not reset.
Repeat the procedure.

Just got an oil change and the oil change light is still coming on (it was doing this before I got it changed and the time before that) but now, the low coolant light is on as well...they checked all the...

To clear the oil change light, turn the key to on,and press the accelerator pedal three times real slow within 5 seconds, this will clear the light, now on the coolant light sensor, low coolant, remove the sensor on the passengers side of the radiator,it has a wire clip,so use a small pick, with a slight hook on it,the sensor is square, and flat,You will see,it needs to be cleaned out, most likely with air pressure, then put the clip back on the sensor, and it will snap back on,refill the radiator. If this was at all helpful, please rate,I have a 2000 montana myself,
