Had the same problem. Was told there are 2 sensors, one on the throttle body the other one was at the pedal. Check the one at the pedal. Was having the same problems as the original poster had, for 4 years, before they finally figured it out.
If this is what I think it is, on the 3.5 Lit V6, you have an APS (Accelerator Position Sensor) and a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). The accelerator pedal cable is NOT directly connected to the throttle body plate, it's connected to the APS. The APS sends its signal to the ETSCM (Electronic Throttle System Control Module) which in turn activates the ETS Motor located on the throttle body which opens/closes the throttle plate/butterfly. It's a very sofisticated electronic system. Both the APS and the TPS are known to go bad and simply replacing them is no guarantee of fixing problems in this system (often times it does, and frequently it doesn't). You should first verify there is a problem with these sensors (APS and or TPS). They are basic potentiometers (two circuits in each) which provide data to the computer regarding throttle opening for LOAD calculations (ignition timing, fuel injector pulse width, cruise control operation, etc). Best you have this system diagnosed by a professional technician who knows the system.
I have de same probem with my Santa Fe Hyundai 2007, 2.7 Lts. It loss the power and almost go to neutral state, and there´s and light indicator ON ando chequing with a ODB send a code of P0120. What ypu recomend, thanks.

?€¢
Limited throttle mode--The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control, however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.
?€¢
Throttle default mode--The ECM will turn OFF the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.
?€¢
Forced idle mode--The ECM will perform the following actions:
-
Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle position, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned OFF
-
Ignore the accelerator pedal input
?€¢
Engine shutdown mode--The ECM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.
Did you have it checked for DTC's - diagnostic trouble code's related to the reduced engine power ?
All so has APP sensor gas pedal !
Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor
The accelerator pedal contains 2 individual accelerator pedal position (APP) sensors within the assembly. The APP sensors 1 and 2 are potentiometer type sensors each with 3 circuits:
?€¢
A 5-volt reference circuit
?€¢
A low reference circuit
?€¢
A signal circuit
The APP sensors are used to determine the pedal angle. The engine control module (ECM) provides each APP sensor a 5-volt reference circuit and a low reference circuit. The APP sensors provide the ECM with signal voltage proportional to the pedal movement. The APP sensor 1 signal voltage at rest position is less than 1 volt and increases to more than 4 volts as the pedal is actuated. The APP sensor 2 signal voltage at rest position is less than 0.6 volt and increases to more than 2 volts as the pedal is actuated.
Your best bet is take your vehicle to the dealer !

Just return from the Hyundai dealer, my Santa Fe engine light came on, while on the beltway. I decide to check for the repair that they did cost $726.70,part 282.1035357-3B011 sensor and coil 27300-39700. Had no idea about this site, I was just searching, and you were correct 100% of what they did find and repair. The dealer ran an diagnosis test and the problem was the APS and coil, the cost is what floor me, for I just paid $536 last month because she was making noise, thought it was my drive belt, it was some power steering belt hy57170-39000 and hy97713-26300 parts 101.18 labor 312.74. After reading another person info about coil and the sensor's sit on top, and his hands never got dirty, it was something I could have done even as a woman, I have no problem doing simple things. It a blessing to know that this site and professional mechanic are here to help commonsense people to save money, it make me want to cry, to know after spending 726. more so 237 for labor in these time of inflation, every little bit of information help. God bless you guys. Thanks Paul and Ghost 45, I will be saving this site as my bookmark.
