Fog lights turning on, draining battery 02 Jeep Wrangler Sport

My fog light switch is supposed to only come on if i twist and turn on my other lights then PULL to turn the fog lights on. It is loose without twisting at all, and sometimes they just go on by themselves and if I don't notice they drain my battery. This is a SUPER frusterating problem. Tried taking out the relay fuse under the hood... didn't work. Does anyone know how to either take the steering column off or another way to find the wire? And WHICH wire it is??!!

Thanks!
Erin

Can't find out how to turn on my fog lights on my 2004 jeep liberty

Some jeeps use a 'pull' switch. Examine your indicator stalk. Turn on the twister for the lights then pull the twist grip away from the steering column towards the driver's door. This should turn the fog lights on. Try the attached web link.

2006 Jeep Wrangler dash fog light indicator does not come on. Fuses checked and multifunction switch replaced. No power to the fog lights. Where do I look next?

check fuse 19 in underhood fuse box. Check for battery voltage coming into the MF switch on the red/light green wire. Then check for battery voltage on the white/yellow when you turn on the fog lamps. Next, check for battery voltage on terminal B16 in the relay socket after pulling the fog lamp relay

How to replace fog light bulb on an '03 Jeep

There is a small square "trap door" in each wheel well directly behind the fog lamps. You can pry it open and access the fog lamps. They just twist loose.

Its the switch. The wires may be ok but the switch its self has gone bad, sometimes the switch will fry and need replaced.

Battery keeps dying

Apparently the 03 wranglers have a tendency to have faulty fog light switches. It might be that your fog light switch is broken and they stay on all the time, and drain the battery. I just had this happen to me and realized after jumping it twice, that my fog lights won't turn off. Hope this helps

2001 jeep wrangler sport ,fog lights on, switch off

I have a simular problem. Only mine does not some on. I tried to replace the turn signal switch assembly with a used one. The replacement work ok on the fog lights but the rest was bad. As near as I can figure it, the switch assemble is not well made and had many ways to go bad. Either replace the whole assemble or wire in a bipass switch. I am going to go with a bipass switch. I don't trust the new jeep products.

Fog Lights stay on

Coincidentally, starting today, 6/22, my '04 Wrangler with 85K miles started having the same symptom. It's not the relay though. My lights will turn off if i press in on the fog light switch in the off position on the turn signal lever but when I release the pressure they come back on. I also pulled the fog light relay to shut off the lights. Unfortunately, I believe the only solution is to replace the turn signal lever.

Fog lights will not turn off on 2002 Jeep Wrangle Sahara

Or you could just pull out the relay under the hood, it's marked fog lights, pull the relay out. If your hi beam indicator is flashing with your fog lights on them selves. Could be the multi function switch. That controls turn signals, headlights, fog, I have seen many of those go bad.

Mine did the same thing. One light I broke off in a snow bank and I just cut the other wire. Problem fixed :)
