I bought a used freestyle without knowing the keyless entry code and need to know where the computer module is.
I just bought a used 2005 ford freestyle that came with no users manual or wallet card and i do not no the 5 digit code for the keyless entry. i need to know where the computer module is?
Re: i bought a used freestyle without knowing the keyless...
The dealer will have to recover the code for you. Look at spending about 100 bucks unless you are getting other work done they will usually do it for free if you have other biz with them.

It does indeed have keyless entry. It needs reprogramming when you get a new remote. Also if you disconnect the battery. Usually a local car alarm fitting shop, or an auto-electrician will do it. Plus of course a Ford dealership.
The dealer is the only place I know of to get the codes. They will need to verify ownership of the truck and there is usually a charge for it but if you just bought the truck, go back to the dealer where you purchased it. Hopefully you can convince them to foot the bill!
Take the plastic cover off of where the jack / wheel wrench is located on the rear left side. Standing in the back of the vehicle, look forward (toward the steering wheel) and you will see a computer module. The factory code is typed on that module. You might have to "carefully" pry the plastic out and do some mild acrobatics to see the code, but that is where it is. After you find the code, go to your owners manual and reset the code to your own numbers. You will have to do this every time the battery is disconnected, so you might want to just remember the factory code. Good Luck
The code should be on the computer module which should be below and behind the rear passenger seat belt panel.....If not take your title, proof of ownership, to a local Ford dealer and they should be able to give you that information.
if you do not already know the factory code, the only way it can be obtained is by your local ford dealer. the proprietary computer equiptment they have can access the code that is programed in vehicles security module. if you purchased it used..it is often that the keyless entry code id card is still withe the owners manual..it is a 5 digit code printed on an credit card sized card that is white in color..i hope this helps you...good luck
To locate the original keypad code, open the passenger/rear door. Pull the on-body rubber weatherstrip out, around the rear side of the door closure. Fold the right/rear seatback down into the locked position to facilitate access to the right/rear seat belt anchor. Carefully pry the upper plastic panel that houses the height adjuster and seat belt anchor off the body taking care not to damage the panel. Now pry the lower panel outward just far enough to enable access to the Vehicle Security Module, where you'll see three electrical connectors plugged into it, coloured green, grey, and blue. On the module will be a series of digits on a label similar to 5L2T-15K602-EA. Beside those digits are five numbers. Those five numbers are the keyless entry keypad code.
factory keyless entry codes are the bold 5 digit number located on the keyless entry control module, the module is usually located on the drivers side above the parking brake handle
From what I can tell the vsm module is on the inside firewall on left side towards center of vehicle. It will be a black box and should have a white sticker with 4 ro 5 numbers in bold black on it this is your factory code hope this helps
