So... I'm starting to get just a bit frustrated... after installing the new PCM, my dodge avenger, 96 2.0L ran for 5 days then went out again, fuel pump works and I've got spark but no start..

after all that work its terrible that something else goes bad however since you do get spark and fuel i would say crank or cam sensor but then if one of those goes bad it wont allow engine to turn over and would shut fuel pump off. so there is only one thing left to cause it you have a short in the harness somewhere maybe just a lose connection on the cam or crank sensor put dieelectric grease in all your connectors

turn key on and start car,let it die and check for fuel pressure ,find fuel line and remove cap that looks like valve stem for tire, press neddle un derneth ,probly have no fuel,if so repace fuel filter and pump.try to spray brake cleane in throttle body after it dies if it will run on brake kleen you have no fuel, replace pump and filter.

Dodge Avenger 96 2.0L Won't Start

my wife had a 96 chrysler cirrus with the 2.6 v6 engine. the distributer was under the intake manifold and had the cam position senser in it. this is the hottest area in the engine, very bad engineering, replaced the distributer four times, each one averaging four months, spent $2500, finally sold car and would never buy another chrysler product.

I have a 1999 Dodge Avenger and it only starts when it wants to or something. It turns over like it wants to but it just keeps turning over. i thought it was because i ran out of gas so i changed my fuel...

You may have vapor lock. This would prevent the fuel from getting to the injectors. Try pumping the gas to get the car started. Once started, if the car will stay running, your problem should be cured. If the problem remains, it could be a more serious problem like the PCM (computer). I'm guessing it's vapor lock or otherwise air in the fuel line since the problem started after running out of gas.

I have a 97 Dodge Avenger ES 2.5 liter which does not seem to be getting fuel. The fuel pump primes when it is turned on but it will not start. Any ideas?

the regulator is bad or clogged fuel screen or just leaking/loosing fuel prime. try to key it up a few times to build prime before starting. no matter u need to replace the pump if its not holding 55psi at the fuel rail.
