SOURCE: air bag light is and flashing code 27

This is a common fault on FORD

Usually due to a poor connection in the YELLOW PLASTIC CONNECTOR underneath the passenger seat.

Just push it together properly and it should clear the AirBag fault light

SOURCE: air bag code 42

Left hand crash sensor feed/return circuit open.

You're going to have to look for a broken wire, or a connector that is corroded or open. Once the problem is fixed the light will go out. Unfortunately I don't have a wiring diagram on this to help you out or any idea as to where the wires are routed.

Where is the air bag location?

If the air bag light is on there is a code stored in the SRS restraint module - air bags ! Wiring problem , impact sensor ! First place to start is have the vehicle check for codes . Not with OBD2 code reader., factory or professional grade scan tool . If you have not worked on air bag systems I recommend you take it to a ASE certified repair shop or the dealer . People have been killed by accidental air bag deployment , by not knowing what's up . Takes special tools !

Hi i have just changed steering wheel on fiesta zetec 2003 for a ST150 2005 steering wheel will the air bags and connections be compatable with each other.

. Were did you check for codes ? an what are you checking with ? you need a factory scan tool to check for those type codes ? or the light flashes codes
Lamp Fault Code (LFC)
When the RCM detects a fault, it will cause the air bag indicator to flash a coded sequence called a LFC. The code is one digit. The digit is indicated by a number of flashes with a 0.5 second interval between pulses. There is a 5 second pause between each display of an LFC.
Each LFC is flashed five times after which the air bag indicator will remain lit as long as the key remains in the RUN position. If there are multiple LFCs, each LFC will flash in order of priority.
Each LFC has one or more associated DTC.
  1. Press TRIGGER. The RCM will run the On-Demand Self-Test and display On-Demand DTCs (reflecting hard system concerns) on the screen.

I have a code that show on CARMD about the srs light (airbag) on my dash , how do I reset or shut it off without changing an airbag

Hi there:The Restraints Control Module (RCM / located behind right side of the instrument panel) monitors the resistance of the driver side air bag circuit loop and the air bag module igniter at RCM, if the resistance is greater than 3.6 ohms, the RCM will store diagnostic trouble code B1994 and flash lamp fault code.
About the possible causes, pay attention that a high resistance on the driver side air bag circuit can be caused by:
  • - damaged wiring on circuit 1257 (WH/LB).
  • - damaged wiring on circuit 1258 (BN/LB)
  • - damaged driver side air bag module.
  • - damaged RCM.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

MY 2007 FOCUS AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON CONTINIOUS.THE FAULT CODE IS B1994..CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THIS IS AND HOW TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM PLEASE.THANKYOU.

DTC B1994 is for a circuit fault for the left side-mount air bag. Take your vehicle to a local auto repair shop that can repair the Supplemental Restraint System or to a Ford dealership. Diagnosing and repairing this fault takes specialized tools.

Flashing airbag light on 97 maxima. Car was in an accident, airbags deployed, replaced bags and controller why won't the light stay off

To manually check air bag codes, turn the key On and push the driver's door switch (at the bottom of the B-pillar) 5 times or more within 7 seconds of turning the key ON. Then watch the air bag light flashing codes. The air bag light will come ON for 3 seconds and then give fast flashes if there is a code. Count the fast flashes as the code. So the air bag light on for 3 seconds and then 8 flashes is a code 8 for the passenger air bag circuit. after counting code clear codes and see if they come back

I have a 32 code in my 2002 lincoln ls.the function on my steering wheel all work and the connector under the seat seems fine as weel

If all is fine, try resetting the codes and see if it comes back again.
The flashing SRS light it called an LFC code. The reason you are getting different information is that it does not pinpoint a defective part - but that you have either a open circuit or a short.... so many things can cause this.
here are the codes:

B1932 32 8 Driver Air Bag Circuit Resistance High
B1993 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground
B1992 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition
B1994 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance
B1995 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low

Typically, a 32 is a broken or open wire, and a 36 is a short.

So that is why a 32 is usually the connector under the driver seat (to the driver position sensor in the seat) since the seat moves back and forth all the time (with easy-entry) - the wires break causing it to go 'open circuit'.
the 36 is usually a short - so when the clock-spring fails - it's actually a ribbon cable in the steering column that wear through - causing multiple wires to rub through bare and short to each-other.
but - since this is an electircal circuit - any bare wire could cause

EDR codes extracted

Last one is a code saying the bags deployed, I believe. Maybe massive water damage to sensors? 1994 is resistance too high on driver side curtain airbag, indicating an open circuit, and 2775 says short to ground indicating grounded circuit. Did they all occur simultaneously? If so, may be a direct result of deployment. Do not know why they deployed. Give as much info as possible.

Air bag sensor keeps flashing

If a concern is detected, the air bag control module will communicate by flashing the warning indicator. A diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is logged by the air bag control module in a nonvolatile memory. For additional information, refer to Diagnosis and Testing in this section.

Item Part Number Description 1 One flash cycle: Driver air bag trouble code 2 Two flash cycle: Passenger air bag trouble code 3 Three flash cycle: Trouble code common to both driver and passenger air bag circuit 4 Four flash cycle: Safety belt pretensioner trouble code common to both driver and passenger pretensioner circuits 5 Five flash cycle: Driver side air bag trouble code 6 Six flash cycle: Passenger side air bag trouble code 7 Not used 8 Not used

Air bag code

I strongly suspect you have a bad connection or corroded connection at one of your connectors.

Here's the LFC (lamp Fault Codes) for 36:

B1993 36 22 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Ground GO to Pinpoint Test V . B1992 36 24 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Shorted to Battery or Ignition GO to Pinpoint Test W . B1994 36 26 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance High GO to Pinpoint Test X . B1995 36 28 Driver Side Air Bag Circuit Resistance Low GO to Pinpoint Test Y .
