Car will not start after installing CD player into a 1999 Saturn!

post symptoms like this.
i check head lights, they work key out , so do they?
i turn the key to Ignition on.
the dash self test lamps all glow, do they,?
look at that CEL lamp, (aka SES) lamp, check engine lamp
it it dont glow the engine brain, lost power, fuse, (head lamps work)
if the CEL glows. then now crank the engine, (start pos.)
does it crank robustly? yes /no?
yes, do you have spark>
no, does car crank over fast with jumper cables to running donor car?

that is start, no pun.

Yes it can be Amp problem,but there are many other possibilities like loose connection,radio wires getting short.

What stereo did you use as a replacement? If you used a aftermarket (kenwood, sony, etc) cd player, you need to use the proper adapter harness. These cars have a build in theft deterrent system that involves the stereo. So, when you replace the stereo, a component of your anti theft system is missing. The use of the harness gets around this feature somehow, and allows you to use aftermarket CD players. Also, ensure that no wires are getting pinched behind the stereo, and that all your connections are soldered and shrink wrapped to avoid any future problems. find yourself a replacement radio/CD unit on ebay and pay a car stereo place 20 bucks to install it for you. stick with one made for the year and model saturn you have. that way it will just plug in.

Did you check the alternator? if it is faulty the car will drain all the power from the battery until it goes flat

Start by checking all your fuses. also, where did you hook direct power to for the stereo? That could be a problem.

car stereo that come with car is program to car pcm security system.when you change stereo.the pcm dont recognize the new stereo.the pcm goes into anti theft mode it disable ignition.system.

you have a wire gounding out somewhere. Take out the dam# stereo and get with the times and just get a MP3 player.

yes you should of recieved a cd when purchased the car that has the programing codes on it if not then dealership may have it
