PCM code P0404

Scan the engine computer for trouble codes, and go from there. with the light on, there will be a code or more to follow. Some stores, like Autozone, will do code scans for free. If you get a lot of codes, first attend to those that indicate the problem you are having.

Error Code: P0154
Description:
Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1 , Bank 2 - No Activity Detected
Problem areas:
- Wiring.
- Open circuit in signal wire, between Heated Oxygen sensor 1, Bank 2 and ECM. (Must check and confirm)
- Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).
- Engine control module (ECM).

There is a diagnostic procedure in the factory service repair manual for engine light lit ,no codes . Did you take it to ford dealer ? MIL - is referring to check engine , service engine soon etc...

• MIL always on when engine is running (no DTCs):
• MIL circuits

• For Focus, Mustang, Town Car, Continental, LS6/LS8, Escape, Windstar, F-150, Expedition and Navigator/Blackwood:
• Instrument Cluster, Section 413-01 of the Workshop Manual.
• All Others:
• GO to NB1

SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator After the engine is started, the SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator will prove out for a duration of three seconds. If the instrument cluster does not receive a message from the PCM within five seconds, the instrument cluster will illuminate the SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator and log a diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

• An indicator is inoperative/always on - SERVICE ENGINE SOON

• Circuitry.
• Bulb.
• Instrument cluster.
• PCM.

• GO to Pinpoint Test P .

PINPOINT TEST P: AN INDICATOR IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON - SERVICE ENGINE SOON CONDITIONS DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS P1 CARRY OUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SERVICE ENGINE SOON INDICATOR ACTIVE COMMAND Trigger the HEC active command MIL.

• Did the SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator illuminate?

Yes REFER to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual.

No INSTALL a new instrument cluster; REFER to Instrument Cluster . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

code P0128 :say that the engine is not running normal temp.but less.how the pcm can say that . it's receiving info from coolant sensor. 2things one the coolant sensor is telling the right temp. or the thermostat don't. Change thermostat and see if it change the condition.

sounds like a ground problem to me. if i understand you correctly, while driving the car the all the gauge needles sweep to full max and the vehicles dies, which lets the needles return to "home" and since the car isn't running anymore but key is still on the oil and battery light will come on.
i would suggest taking to a mechanic, just bear with them as these kind of problems can be hard to duplicate

It is that the mechanic is not using the correct scanner with the right protocol installed to read them

Service engine light on , Code's are stored in the PCM - engine computer . Most part stores will check for free . Video's on youtube showing how to test cruise control . You don't need this manual the guy suggest's .

The Service engine soon light comes only when the computer control unit (called the PCM) senses a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system, there are about 200 possible faults that turn the light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores do this testing for free.

the scan tool that you are using will not read codes from all of the modules. take the car to a gm dealer to have it checked with a tech2
