I have a 1996 GMC Jimmy, 6cyl, 4x4. It has ran very well over the summer and once winter hit, its been iffy at best. Ran fine one day, no electric to the inside cabin. Replaced battery (turns out it was 6 years old) and replaced the alternator. Again, ran great for 1 week, then no lights in the cabin. Checked all the connections, everything is secure and tight. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated!

Since you replaced the distributor, are you sure it's properly timed? Hook up timing light and try to crank. It should show you where your timing mark is. It will also verify that you are getting spark.
You need to start a systematic check. Is it electrical, mechanical, fuel related? Need to do more checking and maybe we can get that puppy going.
Good Luck

check the condition and check for power at the actual ignition switch at the bottom of steering column and the rod from the key switch that engages it. if your lucky the switch may just have come loose, but more often then not, there shot.

**UPDATE**
Turns out my 3 year old grandson switched the inside dome light to the on (constant) position. That explains the drain on my new battery. I have a battery charger on it, and will update. I'm honestly embarassed I did not check this out first. Gotta love grand children and give them lottsa hugs!
