1999 Taurus/Sable Section 06-03: Brakes, Front Disc 1999 Taurus/Sable Workshop Manual REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Procedure revision date: 06/25/1998 Disc Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  1. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Be careful to avoid damage or interference with caliper bleeder screw fitting and front disc brake rotor shield (2K004).
  1. I need to know the procedure for r and r on a fron - ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Handle front disc brake rotor (1125) and disc brake caliper (2B120) assembly in such a way as to prevent deformation of front disc brake rotor , and nicking, scratching or contamination of brake linings/rotor surfaces.
NOTE: To prevent damage, do not allow disc brake caliper to hang by the front brake hose (2078) .

Remove caliper anchor plate bolts and discard. Position disc brake caliper out of the way. Prevent separation of caliper housing from anchor bracket because contamination of guide pin journals can occur.
  1. NOTE: If excessive force must be used during front disc brake rotor removal, the front disc brake rotor should be checked for runout prior to installation.

If additional force is required to remove front disc brake rotor , apply Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor F2AZ-19A501-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C56-A on front and rear rotor/hub mating surfaces. First, strike front disc brake rotor between lug bolts (1107) with a plastic hammer. If this does not work, attach 2-3 Jaw Puller 205-D027 (D80L-1013-A) or equivalent and remove front disc brake rotor . Remove front disc brake rotor from wheel hub (1104) assembly by pulling it off the lug bolts.
Installation
  1. If original front disc brake rotor is being installed, make sure rotor braking and mounting surfaces are clean.
  1. CAUTION: Failure to clean rust and foreign material from rotor and hub mounting faces when installing new or old front disc brake rotors will result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness shudder vibration.
Apply a small amount of Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to pilot diameter of front disc brake rotor.
  1. Install front disc brake rotor on wheel hub assembly.
  1. Install disc brake caliper and new caliper anchor bracket bolts on front disc brake rotor . Tighten caliper anchor bracket bolts to 88-118 Nm (6I need to know the procedure for r and r on a fron - ani_caut.gif
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Failure to tighten lug nuts (1012) in a star pattern may result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness, shudder and vibration.
Install wheel and tire assembly on vehicle. Tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 lb-ft) using Rotunda Accutorq® Lug Nut Socket 164-R0303 or equivalent on a 1/2 inch air impact wrench, or use a torque wrench.
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Pump brake pedal prior to moving vehicle to position brake linings.
  1. Road test vehicle.

Nissan pathfinder deisel 2007 slows down between 100-120km while foot flat - ABS and (!) light on

The exclamation mark is not something you should ignore. The whole thing could be caused by the ABS light because stability control is limited now because of the ABS. That would cause power to be limited also. Get the engine dignosed for free at any autoparts store that is a large chain store.

Remove front Rotors

To remove the front rotors, you first need to support the vehicle with a jack stand. Then remove the wheel.
Once the wheel is out of the way you need to take the two bolts off of the backside of the caliper, then compress the caliper and lift it off of the rotor.
Now you should be able to easily remove the rotor from the Jeep.

Need to know how to replace front studs

You might be able to get the studs out by removing the brake caliper and working thru that hole, if not you will have to remove the rotor. Working thru the caliper hole knock the studs out with a hammer, if you can get your hand or other tool in to remove the old stud, and insert the new one, use a nut of the proper thread, not the lug nut, to pull the stud into the rotor a little grease on the threads will be a big help here. Make sure the studs are fully seated by measuring the length of one of the old ones before you remove it and pull the new ones in untill the length matches. If you have to remove the rotor you will require a special tool to remove the locking nut from the rotor, but once the rotor is off use the same procedure to change the studs.

1993 F150 4x4 w/ auto locking hubs - rotor removal

There are some special 4 tooth and hex sockets for removing the nuts inside the hubs of the truck.
YOu can find these at NAPA or maybe AutoZone or Advance. I would go to NAPA because they more than likely have it and also know something about repairing this assembly.
Ford uses Dana front end parts and NAPA has original Dana parts in stock... so it is as good as or better than original and they would have the tool for it.
Be careful and follow the procedure exactly for putting the front hubs back together.
YOU CAN RUIN THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK IF YOU DO NOT PERFORM THIS SERVICE CORRECTLY.
And trust me... many of the idiots working in repair garages do not know how to do these older 4x4 hubs either... ask someone and read the books for the right procedure... some of the older mechanics may show you how to do it. Ask
