No Click to turn the engine

My truck usually has problems starting, ill hear the engine trying to turn several times but its not till I hear a click that it starts. Now my truck wont click at all and wont start. The engine is still making sound and I think I can hear the starter spinning. Any help in what this could be, ways to test it, would be much appreciated thanks.

SOURCE: clicking noise when trying to start car, battery is ok, wont start

That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.

Looks like ignition current is not being available to fire the fuel/air injected mixture from the plugs. Remove the cable tip which connects TO any plug. Hold the cable tip to any metal part of the engine block or any part of the body where the metal is exposed(not painted). Ask a friend to turn the ignition for starting the engine(vehicle). If the cable tip produces sparks, then the induction coil is OK, but since you have stated that clicking sound is heard which is actually the relay's which tries to get the induction coil to generate high current required for producing the spark to ignite the fuel & air mixture in each cylinder, thus starting the combustion required to turn the engine & subsequently power. So check the induction, belt tightness and finally the "Distributor"in the sequence as stated and you will be able to diagose which one of the above are malfunctioning............sodeep

How do you tell if the starter has gone out?

Well....the car doesn't start. If you turn the key and you only hear a click, click, click it is the most common sign it is out. If you try to start and it sounds like a high pitched spinning then it could be out or you could have a bald spot on your fly wheel. That is a more expensive problem

1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel random start

Well, This sounds more like the starter may need a rebuild than anything else....The symptoms are there! The loud clicking is the solenoid (normal), and it should turn the engine over and crank at that point without you hearing the clicking. Since it does not crank, all you hear is the clicking..
There is an old "red neck" trick that could define your problem...When it just gives you "part one" and doesn't turn the engine over - STOP - NOW..crawl under the truck and try several taps on the starter frame ( NOT ON THE ROUND HOUSING ) with a metal hammer, now see if it starts right up...if this works, then the starter brushes are on their last bit of contact...AND this usually only works once or twice then its time for a rebuild...(don't ask how I know this works!!)
..If this works for you, then you have diagnosed your issue. Even if it doesn't work, my money is still on the starter!! Good luck...

Battery is good but when I turn it on it just clicks won't start, maybe after 20 times it starts

Without hearing the sound it makes - it's kind of hard to diagnose.

The engine starting process consists of turning the key to start, the starter motor's rotor moving forward to engage the engine's flywheel, and then the starter motor 's "rotor" spinning until you move the key from "start" to "run". You can hear the starter motor spinning - but one usually can't hear the rotor moving forward to engage the flywheel. As a result, you hear the odd spinning sound - which is the starter rotor spinning. The engine never actually turns over because the rotor never engages the fly wheel. If this is the case, then it is very likely that your starter needs to be checked and / or replaced.

Good luck!

No fuel pressure till the asd and the fuel pump relay click about 30 -40 seconds after trying to start with the key in the run position ive tested fuel pressure ,,,none till i hear the relays click and...

This is a delay to power the fuel pump. You need to check the output from the ECU/ECM. check for any error codes, check if there is power from the switch. Once the engine runs , you need to see if there is any error codes or faulty symptoms.

The dodge caravan will not start one out of 6 times. them you try again and it starts. l checked the battery and the starter. what could it be? lt seems to have power and then none and then it will start...

when you turn the key and it doesn't start can you hear the starter turn the engine over or do you just hear a single click and the engine is not turning over. If you hear the click and the engine does not turn over a new starter will usually take care of it.

Your first problem sounds like starter solenoid. Replace starter should fix your problem. Second problem sounds like a misfire possibly? Change plugs wires, cap rotor.

My son is trying to fix my 1993 dodge Caravan. When we try to start it it just clicks but then sometimes it will start. What is the problem and where on the engine is this located?

If it starts when you turn the key several times most likely the starter is going out. Usually you'll get just a click when turn key on 1st or 2nd try but after trying it 3-4-5 times and it suddenly engages then the starter is the most likley culprit.
This is located on the front side of the engine toward the radiator in most cases. You did not mention which engine it had.
