Check the bottom Y shaped arm which holds the wheel steady not allowing it to move back or front. Once this play becomes more than half an inch, this starts making knocking sounds as if somebody is tapping on the chassis. This Y shaped arm has both arms attached to the chassis, each having a metal covered rubber bush. Change both bushes and the sound will vanish......................sodeep

New rear suspension and they make noise

Caravans had a real issue with rear suspension noises, and one of the suggestions from Dodge was the addition of a spacer washer at the bottom shock mount to space it a little farther away from the axle housing. I have seen many new shocks that "knocked" right out of the box new. It is possible one of the new ones is defective

I have a 2006 Impreza WRX STI. In the past four months I have been having problems with the rear lateral arm on the driver's side. I had the bolt to the lateral arm replaced three times and the rear strut...

check the quality of the bolt in use
most suspension bolts should be grade 8 quality but many bolts supplied are only grade 5
check that there is no clearance on either side of the suspension rubber and when the bolt is done up tight the arm moves in the rubber
if you use urethane( Plastic) bushing and not rubber
the bolt becomes a pin to move on and that in itself may be the problem as it should be under tension and then the whole mounting area takes the strain

I have a Mitsubishi Charisma 1.6 Salon of 1999 I replaced a front and rear shock absorbers, but still hear the sound of knocking as well as the driver's seat and rear wheels especially driving on small...

Just a stupid little suggestion, check that the exhaust in not knocking on something - check all the exhaust suspension rubbers and shake the exhaust system around to see if you cannot repeat the knocking.

Knock right rear suspension after driving some miles and car warm. NOT antiroll bar bushes - these have been replaced, as have damper mounts.

its known in Australia that sometimes its the valving in the shocker causing it to knock, get shock absorbers checked,it should be under new car warranty still unless youve exceeded the mileage, but they are known to have the odd faulty shock absorber

Needing Gearbox code for Subaru Impreza

It should be: TY754VBAAA

It is located on the passanger side of the bellhousing. If you shine a torch down the left side of the motor at the back near the firewall where the gearbox meets the motor you shouls see a white sticker with the code on it.

Hope this helps.

Popping noise in rear suspension

Check the rear anti roll bar end links. This is a common item to fail as the originals were plastic ! If they are worn my advice is to replace them with some aluminum ones that come with nylon urethane bushes.
