Warning bell won't stop sounding

My warning bell keeps sounding because of a false door open indicator lights. how can I solve this problem OR stop the the warning bell sound? I am having a similiar problem with my 2000 ford windstar. But it only happens when I step on the brakes. It seems like everytime i have to come to a stop the door light flashes and chimes like crazy also the door locks start going crazy. There are no doors open and I can't figure out what the problem is. If someone could help me I would really appreciate it. jgw,

WHERE ARE THE DOOR SENSORS LOCATED? I looked around and could not see them.

My "Door Ajar" RED Warning Lite stays "ON" with ALL DOORS CLOSED andIgnition Switch "ON" on my 2006 Freestar. It beeps for about 1-minuteand comes back beeping after every brake pedal activation. Also, thedriver side door always automatically UNLOCKS after I lock it. This isan intermittent problem which started when the weather was cold but ishappening more and more now even above 70-degreesF.

I went thru a considerable amount of relays in my windstar. I would suggest stopping by a junk/recycling/wrecking yard and picking up a handfull of relays for the windstar/freestar. look under the dash in the fuse panel for the relays and replace any in the circuits affected. if you are in luck the relay circuits will be shown on the cover of the fuse panel.

if the problem is the sliding door... there are a row of circular copper contact points on the door jam as it slides shut as well as "fingers" on the door that make contact with them when you close the door. Use an eraser or similar to make sure the contacts are clean.

Do not overlook the relays in the engine compartment near the battery as a cause for some of the issues you are having.

as a side note... i dropped into my local ford dealer and talked nicely to the parts guy.... he gave me a print out of all the fuses/relays and their locations which was a huge help. give that a try.

let me know how you made out.... and take a moment if this was a successful fix to rate this solution.. thanks

Robert

P.S. i was able to manage almost 400,000 kms from my windstar before i sold it. and the only issue it had then was that it would not stay running (a fairly easy fix)

Audible Warnings Description and Operation
The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The instrument panel cluster (IPC) generates audible warnings through an internal acoustic speaker. The IPC receives audible warning requests via the serial data circuit. If the IPC receives multiple audible warning requests, the warning with the highest priority sounds first. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:
Fast rate chime (200 pulses per minute)
Medium rate chime (150 pulses per minute)
Slow rate chime (50 pulses per minute)
Single chime
Door Ajar Warning
The IPC activates the door ajar audible warning as requested by the body control module (BCM). The BCM sends a serial data message to the IPC indicating the chime frequency and duration. The door ajar warning sounds and the appropriate DOOR AJAR indicator illuminates in the driver information center (DIC) when the following occurs:
• The body control module (BCM) determines that a door, driver door, passenger door. The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM indicating the door ajar status.
• The vehicle is not in park. The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM indicating the gear position.
• The vehicle speed is greater than 8.05 km/h (5 MPH). The IPC uses the vehicle speed information from the ECM to calculate the vehicle speed.
Fasten Safety Belt Warning
The IPC activates the fasten safety belt audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the IPC indicating the chime frequency and duration. The fasten safety belt warning sounds and the fasten safety belt indicator illuminates when the following occurs:
• The ignition switch transitions to ON.
• The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) detects that the driver's seat belt is not buckled. The IPC receives a serial data message from the SDM indicating the drivers seat belt status.
If the seat belt is buckled when the ignition is turned ON, the chime will not sound. If the seat belt is buckled while the chime is sounding, the chime will stop. If the seat belt is unbuckled after the initial transition to ON, the chime will not sound.
Key-In-Ignition Warning
The IPC activates the key-in-ignition audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the IPC indicating the chime frequency and duration. The key-in-ignition warning sounds when the following occurs:
• The ignition switch is OFF.
• The body control module (BCM) determines that the driver's door is open. The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM indicating the door ajar status.
• The BCM determines that the key-in-ignition switch is closed and the signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a serial data message from the BCM indicating the key-in-ignition status.
Lights On Warning
The IPC activates the lights on warning as requested by the body control module (BCM). The BCM sends a serial data message to the IPC indicating the chime frequency and duration. The lights on warning sounds when the following occurs:
• The ignition is OFF.
• The BCM determines that the drivers door is open and the signal circuit is low.
• The BCM determines that the headlamp switch is in the park or head position.
Park Brake Warning
The IPC activates the park brake audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the IPC indicating the chime frequency and duration.
• The body control module (BCM) determines that the park brake is applied.
• The vehicle is not in park. The IPC receives a serial data message from the engine control module (ECM) indicating the gear position.
• The vehicle speed is greater than 8.05 km/h (5 mph). The IPC uses the vehicle speed signal information from the engine control module (ECM) in order to calculate the vehicle speed.
Additional Warnings
The following warnings have an associated instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator or driver information center (DIC) message:
• Check Oil Level
The IPC activates the audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the chime producer indicating the chime frequency and duration.
• Low Fuel
The IPC activates the audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the chime producer indicating the chime frequency and duration.
• Oil Pressure Low Stop Engine
The IPC activates the audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the chime producer indicating the chime frequency and duration.
• Reduced Engine Power
The IPC activates the audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the chime producer indicating the chime frequency and duration.
• Trans Hot Idle Engine
The IPC activates the audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the chime producer indicating the chime frequency and duration.
• Turn Signal On
The IPC activates the audible warning as requested by the BCM. The BCM sends a serial data message to the chime producer indicating the chime frequency and duration

How do we get a 2006 Uplander to stop chiming?

What is it chiming ? Chimes for different reasons , headlamps on , seat belt not buckled , etc.... What warning light is lit on the instrument cluster ? if any . seat belt , air bag's etc...

Audible Warnings Description and Operation
The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:
Fast rate chime (200 pulses per minute)
Medium rate chime (150 pulses per minute)
Slow rate chime (50 pulses per minute)
Single chime
Fasten Safety Belt Warning
The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) activates the fasten safety belt audible warning for 5-8 seconds. The fasten safety belt warning sounds and the fasten seat belt indicator illuminates when the following occurs:
• The ignition switch is in RUN, BULB TEST, or START position.
• The SDM detects that the driver's seat belt is not buckled (signal is low).
If the seat belt is buckled before the ignition is in RUN, BULB TEST, or START position, the chime does not sound. If the seat belt is buckled while the chime is sounding, the chime stops.
Key-In-Ignition Warning
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) activates the key-in-ignition audible warning. The key-in-ignition warning sounds when the following occurs:
• The ignition switch is in OFF, LOCK, or ACCY position.
• The body control module (BCM) determines that the driver's door is open (signal is low).
• The BCM determines that the key-in-ignition switch is closed (signal is low).
Lights On Warning
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) activates the lights on audible warning. The lights on warning sounds when the following occurs:
• The key is not in the ignition.
• The body control module (BCM) determines that the drivers door is open (signal is low).
• The BCM determines that the headlamp switch is in the park or head position.
Rear Parking Assist
The rear object sensor control module activates the audible warning. The audible warning sounds whenever any of the indicators are illuminated on the rear parking assist display. For a description of the rear parking assist system refer to Object Detection Description and Operation.
Turn Signal Reminder
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) sounds the turn signal reminder once per each flash of the turn signal lamps when:
• The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
• The turn signal switch is in either turn position, sensing, within 1 second, an open to B+ transition in the turn signal control circuit (left or right turn).
• The vehicle has traveled a distance of 1.2 km (0.75 mi) by counting pulses on the vehicle speed input circuit.
The IPC turns off the turn signal reminder when either the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position or to the OFF position, or the turn signal switch returns to the OFF position, sensing, within 1 second, no transitions from open to B+ in either of the turn signal control circuits (left turn or right turn).
Additional Chimes
The following chimes will turn on when an associated indicator turns on in the instrument panel cluster (IPC):
• Low Fuel Indicator
• Low Oil Pressure Indicator
• OVER SPEED indicator
For a description of an indicator refer to Indicator/Warning Message Description and Operation.
For diagnosis of an indicator refer to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Your have a problem with one of these systems , your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop. They would do diagnostic's to find the problem .

Do any indicators illuminate when the chime sounds?
Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console
Go to Step 3
3
Turn the ignition OFF.
Remove the key from the ignition.
Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
Close all of the vehicle doors.
Open one or more of the vehicle doors
Does the chime sound at all times regardless if the doors are open or closed?
Go to Step 15
Go to Step 4
4
Close all of the vehicle doors.
With a scan tool, observe the LF Door Ajar Switch parameter and the RF Door Ajar Switch parameter in the instrument panel cluster BCM/Inputs data list.
Do all of the Door Ajar Switch parameters display Door Closed?

2006 Jetta - Driver door indicator light/sound not working

Sounds like a sticky door switch.

Open the driver’s door. With a screwdriver or equivalent trip the latch on the door 2 clicks so it is in the locked position, just under that finger get a can of Brakecleen and hose the snot out of it. I mean really firehouse it. As fast as it evaporates I still had it running out of the door drains. Be careful not to get cleaner on the plastic door panel, trust me take extra care.
Open the outside door handle to release the latch, then open and shut the door for a while, like a few dozen times, to work the latch. Repeat as necessary. Follow up by shooting some PB Blaster, WD-40 or whatever light lube is handy.
If this doesn’t work, give it might take a day or so to work free. If still nothing then the micro switch might actually be broken, but this usually does the trick

Warning bell is on when doors are opened, goes off when shut or ignition on, all lights off, doors shut, normal. open doors with ign. off and bell sounds

I'm assuming that the key is removed from the ignition and it's still chiming..
Take some lock lube spray and spray a bit in your ignition key slot. Then take the key and insert it in and out a few times. This may release a stuck contact in the ign. switch.
The chime will also sound if the lights are left on...worth a check too.
These are cheap fix/checks...hope they help.

Warning bell won't stop sounding

Sounds like your door sensors are going bad and are not relaying to the computer that the doors are fully closed, with that being said you will need to replace them and also at the same time it will stop the door locks from going crazy

Warning bell won't stop sounding

Section 13-09: Gauges, Warning Devices — Chime System 1996 Windstar Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Warning Chime Systems Three distinct sounds are used to indicate the area of concern. Seat belt warning generates 1 chime per second
key-in-ignition generates 2 chimes per second
headlight on generates 4 chimes per second.
Key-In-Ignition Warning The key-in-ignition warning will sound when the driver's front door (20125) is opened with the key in the ignition switch. It will continue to sound until the key is removed, the front door is closed, the ignition switch is turned to START or the vehicle speed is over 24 kmh (15 mph).

Safety Belt Warning When the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled.
  • The safety belt warning indicator lamp (10C859) will activate for 60 seconds or until the driver's safety belt is fastened. Both the chime and lamp activate at the same time.
Anytime the ignition switch is released from START and returns to RUN while the safety belt lamp or chime is activated, the safety belt warning lamp or chime will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed, or the safety belt is buckled.

Headlamp Switch On Warning The chime will be activated if the headlamps or parking lamps are ON, the key is not in the ignition and the driver's door is opened. The chime will sound at a rate of four per second.
