I am working on a customers 2001 Toyota Camry 4cyl. The A/C intermittently works. It has a full charge. and the compressor engages. I have already followed the bullten for the HVAC Fuse. The car has the correct fuse. I am curious if maybe the TXV flange might have a block. I evacuated the refrigerant and tried to charge it back up andit wouldnt take a full charge. so I then evacuated the refrig. again. and then it took the full charge. any suggestions to what this could be?
It sounds like the expansion valve is sticking, especially with it not taking a full charge the second time. Unfortunately not a fun part on that car to get to, of course it's buried in the dash by the evap core.
I had one sorta like this , I would first flush the system to verify their are no blocks. Vac for 30 minutes then re-add proper amount of oil then recharge see if it takes full charge and comp comes on as it should and gauge readings are good. If all looks good then it shuts off again I would go to the junk yard and replace the switches on the high and low side. Mine ended up being the control/ head unit mod and either the high or low. But I cant remember what year it was it might have been newer.
