NEW REBUILT DRIVE SHAFT WITH NEW U-JOINTS. TIRE BALANCE IS FINE. WHEELS ARE NOT BENT.NEW REBUILT DRIVE SHAFT WITH NEW U-JOINTS. TIRE BALANCE IS FINE. WHEELS ARE NOT BENT.
THE U-JOINTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR AND THE BALANCE HAS BEEN CHECKED JUST AS MANY TIMES! THIS WORK WAS PERFORMED BY CERTIFIED MECHANICS EVERY TIME. THE VIBRATION IS STILL THERE. COULD IT BE THE REAR END BEARINGS OR SOMETHING ELSE IN THE REAR END?THE U-JOINTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR AND THE BALANCE HAS BEEN CHECKED JUST AS MANY TIMES! no it could be your mechanics suck! replacing the ujoints 3 times in a year is gross negligence on part of the mechanic. he needs to go back to diagnostics class. The 2nd time he needed to replace them he should have looked as to why. properly serviced u joints can last the life of the vehicle.no it could be your mechanics suck! replacing the ujoints 3 times in a year is gross negligence on part of the mechanic. he needs to go back to diagnostics class. Must be bad u-joint. To check it, let off the gas pedal. If it stops right away, it's the u-joint. If it takes a few seconds, it's a tire out of balance, or a bent wheel.
Just because the driveshaft is rebuilt, doesn't mean anything. There could be a needle fell over on installation, and now it's pooched. Like i said, take it out, get it up to vibration, let off the gas, and see if it quits.
Another thing, just because you had a wheel balance means didley too. I've had weights fall off two minutes after the wheel balance.
I get a kick out of you guys. You're on here asking for help because yopu can't figure it out, and when advice is offered, without following through on it, you just hit the useless button. Good luck. ONE OF TWO ISSUES MOST PROBABLE CAUSE:: 1) DRIVE SHAFT OUT OF ROUND...PUT IT ON A RACK AND WATCH DRIVE SHAFT AT IDLE...WHILE IT'S UP THERE LOOK AT TRANSMISSION MOUNT...2) TRANSMISSION MOUNT SEVERED...
Most likely a tire/wheel balance issue. The weights that are used to balance the tires can sometimes fall off. Generally how far out of balance it is determines when and how bad it will shake. Unfortunately this is not fixable without a tire balancing machine, has to got to a tire shop.
Were the tires rotated or replaced recently? Most major tire shops will check the balance for you at little or no charge if you take it back to the shop where the work was done.
You can also try to identify the problem tire by rotating the front and rear tires one side at a time. For example, if the vibration is coming from the front, swap the front and rear passenger side tires and drive the vehicle again. If the vibration moves to the back it's most likely the (now) passenger side rear tire that's out of balance. If the is no change, try the driver's side tires.
let your wife drive or slow down. Seriously, sounds like you have covered just about everything. Try increasing or decreasing your tire pressures a little just to see if it has any effect.
if the tire was run very long in its uninflated condition .. then it could have damaged cords or the belt ... or it could have heated to the point where the belt shifted .. that would unbalance the tire ... the tire should be removed, inspected for damage and rebalanced if ok .. its not a good idea to drive at 75 since the safety of the tire is questionable .. if the tire just sat for a long time underinflated but not being driven then it can take on a "set" or out of round condition .. that is temporary and will likely go away with continued driving .. driving with only 11 pounds wont take long to damage the tire ..
Sounds like either an out of balance drive shaft or suspension components are shot. Thoroughly check each bushing, ball joint and tie-rod end to make sure they are not worn. Also make sure it's not an out of balance tire or bad tire and that your air pressure in each tire is the same. Good luck
