So you think you have fuel-so all you need is spark, compression and timing-so pull a plug wire off the coil pack and use a test light to see if you have spark-ground clip to engine, hold probe over open hole where wire goes and have someone crank motor-there should be a strong blue spark- denny

SOURCE: Car suddenly won't start

This sounds strange to happen after a service is done on another area of the vehicle. I would look at damage done by the hoist mechanism.

The hoists have lifting arms which meet the frame of your car. You have wires for the O2 sensors which can hang low. The fuel lines follow the frame and possibly could be crushed.

Vibrations. Air wrenches make vibrations which theoretically could shatter delicate electronic components. If you have sediment in the tank, this is also a concern, Some Ford products use a tank filter which can disinegrate and clog the fuel pump.

Get a pressure reading from the test port of the fuel rail. It will tell you if the problem is there.

Car cranks but doesn't ignite.

See if you have fuel pressure at the fuel pressure reief valve atop the engine. Make sure the fuel pump shutoff hasn't tripped. You can push the red button down to reset it.Usually it's found in the trunk. don-ohio (:^)

P1237 in ford mustang

Hello! The P1237 is more than likely a bad fuel pump..However here are a couple of issues to eliminate first...In the trunk on the drivers side directly behind the taillight is a Red Button...This is the inertia fuel shut off switch...Push down on the Button to be sure it is reset...Try to start the car...If it still does not start...On the fuel rail is a cap much similar to a tire valve stem cover..It's the fuel pressure release...Push in the center and fuel should squirt out...If not the fuel pump is defective and needs to be replaced...

Replaced starter and wont start. Im wondering if it is the shut off switch in the trunk? does the switch have to be up or down?

the starter cranks the engine, the switch in the trunk has a button that you depress to reset the fuel pump. if the fuel pump doesnt operate then the switch may tripped, the button is DOWN. So does the engine crank? does it not crank? cranks but wont run? if it cranks but wont run, then check the switch in the trunk. Power goes to that switch and then to the pump, so if that switch has power going through it, and the pump doesnt work, the pump is bad. when turning the key on you should hear the pump go on for 2 seconds.

99 Tahoe engine cranks, wont start

You need 3 things.
Compression
Good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Good gasoline and proper fuel pressure. 63-64 lbs.
If you have all 3 then move on to injector pulse to all injectors.
I think each injector is on a separate driver on that one.
Check for pulse to all of them.

You may be weak on fuel pressure . even a couple of lbs low on a cold start will cause a no start.
Double check cold start cranking fuel pressure. If under 63-62 lbs you have problems.
one test is to give it a squirt of carb cleaner not starting fluid. If it starts then you have a fuel pressure problem.
Run the full fuel pressure test and post back pressures.
Here is the guide lines on testing.
Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.

The 75-85 is only a check on the capable full pressure of fuel pump.
If you can not find the rubber return line check full pressure by plugging return line or just or the true full pressure can be taken direct at the end fuel filter.
What are the pressure readings that you have done.
What are your cold start pressure readings?
Post back what you have.

The other thing to that is common is the (ICM) under the distributor cap. There is a breather screen on the bottom of the distributor that get's clogged with dirt causing condensation promoting corrosion, this was gm TSB for replacing the cap and rotor to make sure it's clean.

Good luck and hope this helps. Merry Xmas.

1998 mustang 3.8 v6 will not start.

First I would check the fuel shut off switch, push down on the red button, switch is located in trunk. Make sure you are getting fuel and fuel pump fuse is ok. You can remove fuel line from fuel filter and turn key on to see if fuel comes out of hose and also get a glass jar and take a fuel sample to see if anything is in fuel. Sounds like you may be having a fuel problem.

Just changed broken fuel line on 99 f350 7.3l and wont start now

You can try this, turn on ignition, you should hear a whirrling noise from the fuel pump, if you hear it, turn ignition off, wait a few seconds, turn it back on, do this 3 to 4 times, so the fuel pump can build up some pressure, then hold the pedal down about half way while your cranking the engine. If there isn't anything else wrong, it should start.
