Your problem unfortunately is bearing related. When any oil is cold (regardless of rating) it is heavier than hot. Therefore, cold, with marginal engine crankshaft bearings, you have less bleed off around the bearing faces. Once warmed up, the oil is thinner and prone to more bleed off, lowering pressure. Once pressure is low enough you will begin to hear lifter noise, later, bearing knock. If in the early stages of failure, replacing engine bearings is an option provided that only rod bearings are worn (can be generally done in car. If mains are involved, engine needs to be removed. Oil pump should be replaced during this repair...changing oil pump without repairing the bearings will not fix the problem.

I have a 05 z71 and lately on cold start up's the oil pressure gauge and info center tell's me low oil pressure for 3-5 seconds then the pressure comes up but not all the way after about 8-10 miles it

Oil gets thicker overtime and the oil filter gets clogged up with debris between changes/services.so cold environments cause sluggish thicker oil which takes longer warm and to reach its ideal viscosity operating temperature.A change of oil and filter would improve oil pressure reading on startup.

My 4.7 dodge lifters are knocking I just had the oil Chang in it 10 days ago it will not stop after it gets warm do u think I need to go to a thicker oil

it may help Try 30w-50 oil. Lifters make a noise like loose tappets so check again for the knock. Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and check that the correct oil filter was used.

Why is car losing oil pressurewhen driving it

as your engine warms up the engine oil gets thinner. when your engine is cold your oil is thicker and able to make higher pressure. As your engine warms up the oil gets thinner and pressure drops. This is caused by wear and excess clearances in the engine oil pump and bearings. You can prolong the use of your current engine with a thicker engine oil, but eventually you will be looking at a rebuild or replacement.

Oil light comes on when idleing only when car is warmed up

under the assumption that the oil level is correct. you probly have a bad oil pressure sensor. when the car is cold the oil is thicker giving it more pressure when it warm it thins and has less pressure. Now assuming the oil level is correct you probly need to change the oil pressure switch/sensor

Have a 96 chevy cavalier. replaced IAC,fuel pump assembly, fuel filter, tested and adjusted TPS but still haveing problem with car shutting off after about 30 mins of driving. Also once "warms" up during...

If your oil pressure gets to low it can turn off the fuel pump. This may also have saved your engine. The ECM turns on the fuel thru the fuel pump relay for about 5 seconds. When engine is running oil pressure sender supplies the voltage to the pump. When engine shuts off check oil pressure and voltage to fuel pump.

Oil pressure warning on 2001 Volvo v70 with 220Km

2 things i would do professionally first. 1. change the oil using a higher weight and a volvo oil filter(there is a difference) 2. have a "wet" gauge installed at the oil pressure sending unit to verify oil pressure from cold to warm. a "wet" gauge is a gauge that reads actuall oil pressure and not the use of electronics. it is usually very acurate. if the oilp pressure still drops, then you are looking at an oil pump issue most likely.

When car is cold oil pressuer is at 75 lbs when car is warmed uped it drops to 40 lbs (v6 3800) when warmed uped and give it gas it goes up to 60 lbs but when i stop it dropes to 45 lbs why is this please...

When the oil is cold it is thinner or watery and the pump moves more oil as it turns making the pressure go up. As the oil warms up it thickens and the pump moves less oil letting the pressure go down. Increasing the engine speed makes the pump turn faster, therefore it moves more oil and the pressure goes up. Changing oil grades will change the numbers somewhat, for example 10W40 will give you different readings than 5W30. I don't see any problem with the readings you put in your posting. I wouldn't be concerned until the warm idle pressure gets down to about 30 or a little lower. Hope this helps.
