I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee with 118,000 miles. I recently had all fluids and oil changed. Lately the car raves up when on idle. The RPM go from about 700 to 1,100 and will stay there for few seconds. if i step on the gas it will ten idle normally. It has done it a few times in the past 2 weeks. Anybody has any ideas of what could be?
Could be an idle controll sensor...maf sensor or o2 sensor....run a good carb/fuel ingector cleaner through with with some high test gas, do this for you next 2 fill ups, one can of cleaner per full tank...if it doesnt work.. then one of those senors is playing tricks with ya...In worst case the timing belt is slipping..
hope this was helpful !
It is the throttle position sensor

I'm getting the same problem from 2000 GC V-8 Laredo. It revs inconsistently in neutral and when driving it jumps around a couple hundred rpm's. It gets worse at slow speeds and it sort of "jumps" or jerks really hard during these fluctuations, makes for for some awful driving. It almost feels like a tranny problem. I changed the plugs and used injector cleaner several times and nothing is working. There is no code or engine light right now, any suggestions??
