Always replace the 'throw-out' bearing (which pushes directly on the clutch pressure plate) even though it may be good now. There is a bronze pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft that the shaft end of the transmission slides into and tends to wear after long use. If badly worn, it can cause minor vibration sometimes after a gear shift. To remove the bearing, you will need to rent or borrow a 'slide hammer' tool with a twin-fingered puller adapter. Make sure the flywheel surface is reasonably smooth and no debris clinging to the surface. This is important if the clutch was 'chattering' before when engaging. Buy a plastic clutch-disc alignment tool that you use during the installation of the disc and pressure plate. Hope this helps!
pump up clutch pedal really fast about ten times....leave it held to floor....open bleeder on slave cyl... repeat untill you have good pedal....may need to adjust master cyl. rod on clutch pedal to get more travel....good luck....Lee
Your clutch is not disengaging. If it a hydrolic clutch chk. the fluid in resavor, Or slave cyl. for the clutch is bad, Or it has got air in it and needs to be bleed. This is a clutch problem, nothing wrong with trans. If its a manual clutch linkage its an ajustment thing. My best guess if its hydrolic slave cyl. went bad, or resavor is out of fluid.
Check the cable operation with the vehicle off, wheels blocked, by having an assistant depress clutch pedal while under the vehicle. If everything appears to be functioning normally, then there may be an internal transmission problem. Does the Jeep hold itself if it is placed in gear, park brake off? Can it be moved while in this state? If it does hold, you may simply have a stretched cable, or a broken or damaged quadrant. The quadrant mounts to the firewall of the vehicle, just in front of the driver, under the dash. This is where the cable connects. Check this, and let me know if it does or doesn't help.
I had the same overheating problem in my jeep ! My problem was finaly found out to be the clutch in my fan its a different kind of clutch system it work as this. When your jeep gets warmer the tighter your fan clutch gets .While cool your fan moves slowly. now to test your clutch just warm up your jeep and rev it up a bit if your fan dose not pick up speed then it is sliping.What will come out of this is that you fan will the seez and run full all the time. if you jeep dose not overheat wile moving then it is not your thermo stat period.
check the ground wirea at the dipstick tube,remove them all,and bend the ends of the wire,look for weak or broken wires, i bought several 4 cyl jeep that had problems at shift, fall on their face < after the engine settled back in to place,so wires made contact> just a thot. the ground wires are small the engine moves,when shifting.
