I have a 2000 mazda mpv 2.5 6 cylinder. was running fine then one day went to start it and it wouldnt. a few days before i accidently did a reverse polarity on the battery. changed battery, starter. still wont start. inside lights come on and go off every so often. could there be something grounding the battery, could the main computer be damaged cause of the reverse polarity..

Had the same problem today with flooded engine. I tried new plugs ($86.00) and used the clear flood mode but to no avail. Spoke to a tech at the mazda dealership and odd as this sounds it worked. On the right side of the engine on the intake about half way down the runner you will find 2 rubber plugs that cover vacumn ports. The front one is the easier of the 2 to access, hook up a piece of vacumn hose to that port, on the other end you need to hook up a funnel. You will have to adapt the hose up to get it to fit. Remove the fuel pump relay, it is the blue relay at the front of the fuse box and is closest to the radiator. Pour a half to 3/4 quart of transmission fluid in the funnel and have someone crank the engine(with a battery charger or jumper cables hooked to your battery so you won't run the battery down). Leave throttle closed, as the fluid gets sucked down you will here engine compression build and it will act like it is going to start, at that point while it is still being cranked stick the fuel pump relay back in. It should then start, it may spit and sputter but it will run. Remove the hose from the vacumn port and reinstall port plug. The car will smoke for quite awhile but the smoke will finally disipate. From start to finish it only took about 2 min. to get the car started. I asked him if that much fluid would hurt it and he said no. He also said that they see this problem a couple of times a week. He also said that they don't take the plugs out and clean prior to doing the procedure, it will work on the old plugs. This saved me a tow to the dealership and probably a couple hundred dollars.

SOURCE: 2000 mazda mpv

My 2001 was just doing the same thing. Upon inspection, I found a vacuum hose broken. Taped it up with duct tape until the replacement came in. Under $20 for hose and new clamp. I also checked the routing of my plug wires and breakage. While replacing wires and plugs, I noticed the wires were plugged in incorrectly. Found the proper routing online and everything run great now. Slight whistling sound though, probably throttle body needs to be cleaned. Otherwise, no hesitation on idle or acceleration.

What's your problem?I have a Mazda MPV 2000, and on Monday the 23th I put gas on my car and while I was driving, my van just shut down on me while driving and once it stop I try turning it on agai

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPEDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

1998 MPV: 98 mazda mvp if i ground the black and red wirer a...

That wire is input 4S to the powertrain control module. I dont know if having it grounded all the time will affect the powertrain control computer but it doesnt seem to want to hurt the fuel pump circuitry itself from looking at the schematics. I'd try to ground it start it then make sure of course the relay opens when you shut it off then try to drive it to make sure the grounded pin on the PCM doesnt affect the transmission.

Mazda mpv lx 2000- remote control not responding. the alarm would go off but the remote wont click it off

Does the remote do anything at all? Lock/unlock doors etc.? If not it's likely that the remote needs to be reprogrammed (can be done easily with online instructions) or the obvious: the battery is dead.
