SOURCE: car won't start

There is a recall on this model for problems with the Engine Control Module/Coil Pack. This causes the engine to not start. Take it to the nearest Saturn dealer and get it repaired free of charge. This problem can eventually burn up your catyletic converter which will lead to much more costly repairs. There are actually 3 recalls on this vehicle. Take it to the dealer and get it taken care of. It will be like driving a new car once the repairs have been made!

Your best bet is to find a good repair shop

I know where your going here and respect your
wanting to do all your own work

You can not solve these issues by changing
parts, until you get to the real issue, which you
may not.

Have you checked fuel pressure or tested
the fuel pump in any way?

Saturn sl2 problems

Have you checked the fuel injectors? Fuel filter? Fuel pump? Sounds to me like you have a fuel delivery problem.

Try the following: remove the airbox and spray some starter fluid into the throttle body while someone else cranks the motor. If it starts for a second and dies, then you KNOW you have a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't change and still won't start, then the problem is either a bad sensor somewhere (crank position sensor, maybe?) or no compression.

Won't start. I've replaced the fuel filter, the spark plugs, wires, and ignition coils. Will run off of starting fluid, but not by itself. Checked fuel pressure and it's coming up around 40. What else...

SOUND LIKE FAULTY FUEL PUMP OR BAD PUMP RELAY. IF YOU SPRAY STARTER FLUID AND VECHICLE RUNS.ITS NOT GETTING FUEL..NEXT TIME ENGINE STALL OUT.GET A FUEL PRESSURE READING.DONT TURN ON THE IGNITION .IF FUEL PRESSURE READS ZERO YOU KNOW YOU HAVE FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY OR FUEL PUMP RELAY FAULTY.

Could be one or more of many grips.

3. Battery terminal connections loose or corroded.
4. Leaking fuel injectior(s), faulty fuel pump, pressure regulator, etc.
5. Fuel not reaching fuel rail or TBI unit.
6. Ignition components damp or damaged.
7. Worn faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs.
8. Broken, loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circut.
9. Broken, loose or disconnected wires at the ignition coil or faulty coil. 10. Broken timing Chain.
11. Engine coolant temperature sensor defective.
12. Crankshaft postition sensor defective.

Hope this Helps!

My saturn SL2 died at idle...and now wont crank over...there is juice to the starter and the battery has 13.1 volts

Any starter clicking noises? Try moving the shifter to "N" neutral and try starting the car.
IF that is not successful, find the starter relay in the under-hood fuse box, replace the relay with an identical relay from the under-hood fuse box and see if it will start. This will then eliminate the park/neutral start switch and the starter relay.
Let me know what you find.

My 1999 saturn sl2 will not start. It cranks, fuel pump is working but I no spark from the ignition coils or spark plugs. A few months ago the wipers started acting funny (going off when they wanted to)...

It could be, and almost definitely is very possible its the brain ( ECU or Electronic control module) Will all the things you said it is doing that is probably the problem. Caution : Computer problems are EXPENSIVE

96 saturn sl2 won't start

Not enough information.Need to know if the engine CRANKS,or turns over, just won't start up and run,or if when you turn the ignition key, nothing happens at all.If the engine cranks and turns over, just won't run,you have to check for fuel supply and spark to the spark plugs. If nothing happens at all when turning the key, could be a bad starter, battery, alternator,PRNDL switch.
