No, just a 14mm wrench or socket to remove the lower caliper bolt, swing the caliper up and slide the pads out. Compress the caliper piston with large slip joint pliers. Lubricate the pad ends where they touch the slides and install new pads.

There is a special tool to compress the piston back into the caliper on odyssey honda 2005 what is it

Why worry about buying a special tool when the job can be done with a G clamp. After removing the caliper from the rotor remove the outer brake pad and leave the inner pad where it is against the piston. Now with the G clamp place the end of the clamp on the back of the caliper and the adjustable part onto the brake pad slowly wind the clamp dawn against the brake pad which will in turn push the caliper piston all the way back into the caliper. Then remove the brake pad and replace with new ones. Replace the caliper onto the rotor and tighten. Then pump the brake pedal with the engine OFF.

Anything special about changing front pads on audi a3? I've done honda, acura and toyota's.

For front brake pads replacement you need only usually wrench set, inclusive 7 mm allen key also. But for rear brake pads replacement you need obligatory a special caliper piston pressing tool, in order to press back rear caliper piston with parking brake automatic adjustment!!! For front brake pads. For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 11. Install both caps. 12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!!

Do i need any special tools to replace the brake pads on a 2005 Honda odossey?

The tools you need are a lug wrench 19mm or 3/4", a 14mm wrench, 12mm wrench, and something to push the caliper piston in, you can use a C-Clamp, a large pair of channel locks, or a piston tool.

Do i need a special tool to change front brakes

Pads only ! No special Tools other than racket and socket. Rotors I recommend sending the job to a repair shop. This is challenging.

I have squeaky break on my Honda Odyssey 2007.

Some brake pads have a wear indicator that will start making noises when pads need replacing. Piston may be sticking in cylider and causing pad to rub constantly on disk.

I have a 2007 Honda Oddysey and need to change brake pads. What size wrenches and do I need to take the calliper off the van? Any other helpful hints .... First time to change on Honda and want to be...

The best thing for a do-it-yourselfer is buy a Chilton book for your van. It costs about $20 st the auto-parts store. It will show you step by step on how to do it correctly without damaging the brake caliper. Plus, it has info on everything you need to do other repairs.

Rear brakes

the piston will twist in rather than push in htis is due to the park brake on caliper. you can get a tool and screw in clockwise be sure the tab lines up with the new pads
