My wife attempted to change air flow direction knob to defrost and after defrosting changed back to floor/defrost the unit wouldn't change over and stuck in defrost mode.I have seen videos on you tube about this problem. Some people use a wire tie or epoxy putty to solve the issue rather than change out the unit considering the cost and labor it makes sense to try repair some other way. What would you do to attempt to repair?Iknow the stereo comes out for access and the coin tray also.I have the Rockford Fosgate stereo, are here any additional things to take care of with this unit? Thanks for any info or tips you can give me to help I would greatly appreciate.Roy

Defrost mode is a fail safe if the vacuum supply to the control head is lost. It sounds as if you have a break in the vacuum supply line from the engine to the interior of your vehicle. With the vehicle running check for a vacuum leak under the dash on the passenger side. You can use a vacuum hose as a stetscope to help hear it better. And check under the hood on the passenger side where the vacuum hoses are bunched up and see if any are broken and leaking.

This is usually caused by the selector switch being bad on the car. You will need to change the switch for it to work again.
