Noise clunk After my car has been idle and I begin the drive off there is a LOUD CLUNK noise coming from under the vehicle. Took it to the the dealer and they couldn't get the car to make the noise again. Took it again and they said it was the drivers side axle, which was changed. Drove off the lot and a few hours later, the sound reappeared. My warranty runs out in 10K miles and I really want to find and fix the issue before it costs me an arm and a leg! Also, I can feel the clunk in the steering wheel and it has now began to clunk whenever I hit a bump in the road. Feels like something is loose! Any ideas on what this could be?!

Melinda, since it is under warranty and you have already taken it to the dealership there is record of the complaint and attempted repair. Take it back to them. As long as it is covered under the warranty it shouldn't cost you anything.

SOURCE: rattle/clunk front end of a 2001 grand caravan

Front stabilizer/sway bar bushings sound worn. I had same, on my 91'. Felt like someone was thumping the floor under my feet sometimes. I managed to get away with spinning the outer ones at control arms, but replaced ones in middle at frame.

SOURCE: Loud Vibration from Car When Idle

You need to take the car back to the place that did the exhaust work. What you are hearing is the exhaust system (pipe, muffler, etc.) touching the underside of the car. The exhaust system is mounted along the underside of the car with exhaust hangers (usually made of rubber) also called insulators. The reason you don't hear it when going is because when you step on the gas the engine torques causing the exhaust system to move away from what it is touching.

SOURCE: very loud "rubbing " sound when driving only

you did damage to the wheel bearing i bet it sounds like a airplane sound. also if you steering wheel is off 7"then have front end aligned because this will destroy the tires and they will make noise.

SOURCE: Clicking, sticking sound from front end, drivers side

It is your cv joint that is bad. If you jack the van up on that side, check to see if the boot is ripped...and more than likely your cv joint is about shot...even if the boot is intact.

The cv joint is bad....

2004 ford expedition clunk noise at idle and low rpm

OK, you will need to go back to basics here. 'Clunks' could be several things. Issues like a worn suspension bushing, a worn out ball joint, a perished rubber drive shaft joint or a worn driveshaft carrier bearing.
I'll need a bit more information to help. Sound can travel through solid objects which means the sound might not be coming from under the seat. So when EXACTLY does it 'Clunk'? Is it a single clunk or a regular repeating noise? Does it change with road speed? Does it do it when stopped and idling, only when moving or both? Does it happen just as you pull away and as you slow to a stop? Does it happen as you accelerate/brake hard? When you raise the revs to over 2000 is this at idle or as you drive? All these answers will give clues as to where the issue could be.

find noise location first. never ignore noise on machines. and 10x that on man movers. 100x that in the air.

Struts noise?

I would tend to believe it's more likely a worn sway bar bushing or link if it's a rattle or a small clunk, if it's a loud clunk probably a strut, try bouncing he back of the car when parked, if you get the clunk probably a strut if only when driving, turning, braking probably just a bushing on the sway bar

I have clunk noises coming from the differential as the car is coming to a stop. There seems to be too much play in the unit. The transmission tail shaft and bushing have been replaced and the ring and...

NAW, sounds like you need the updated slip yoke and "special" spline lube, I would think your local dealer would have done that way before going into the diff. Or maybe they did and I didn't post it?
I've also found sway bar end links to cause a clunk but you will usally hear this when you are turning or going over a bump also, But once or twice I have found them to be the problem with stops or starts only!
If it's 4x4 then you could try and narrow it down by pulling the rear drive line and going for a short drive in 4 wheel drive and see if the noise is gone.

When i shifting from reverse to drive I hear a loud clunk noise.

I'll admit right away that I cannot solve this for you, but I can tell you your problem would bother me too. New vehicles should not "clank" when they go into ANY gear. Sounds to me like something might just be loose but who knows, right?

The beauty of owning a new vehicle, my friend, is THEY have to figure it out & fix it under warranty. Call your favorite Honda dealer and set up an appointment!

Ciao!
