Well, in order to give a specific amount I would have to have more information.... manual or automatic?... engine size?... 2x4 or 4x4?... A 2WD 5.4 L engine requires 14 quarts of fluid (this was the most common for that year).
4 to 5 quarts.
If you are just draining the pan, you will only need to add 4 to 5 quarts.
Now, if you are draining the torque as well, you will need add 9 total quarts is this case. This is only if you are rebuilding the trans. a normal fluid change will require only 4 to 5 quarts...
Fill to 75% capacity to account for any fluid left in the transmission

Feel lucky your car has made it this far!!! I need to know engine, tranny, sub model etc..
SOURCE: where is the drain plug located on a Volvo 2000
There no tranny drain plug, you must drop the pan to change the fluid and filter. Standard fluid is fne. I believe Dextron3 but double check with the autoparts store (tell them you have a volvo) and they can lookup the correct type of ATF.
SOURCE: How much automatic transmission fluid in transmission?
Your owners manual will tell you, if you don't have one call your local MB dealer service dept and they will tell you.
SOURCE: where to get TRANSMISSION FLUID..i buy regular
GO TO ANY AUTO PART STORES. ASK THE SALES PERSON OR MANAGER THEY WILL FIND WHAT YOU NEED. TYPE TRANSMISSION FLUID YOU NEED IS MOPAR PLUS 4 ATF OR EQUIVALENT.
SOURCE: JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT
Not transmission fluid. Just plain power steering fluid. Any brand will work. OK?
