Truck was serviced for check engine light and many problems that could be symptematic of a fuel pump failure. They replaced the EGR system as well as some fuel intake components in addition to cleaning the fuel line. That cost me over $1500. Now they're quoting $900 to replace the fuel pump. Shouldn't they have seen this coming and done this repair at the same time? They have not specified the price for the parts but I have seen prices ranging from 95 to 250. I have also seen labor timing estimates of 2-3 hours. How could this possibly add up to $900?!?!?
After reading codes they should have checked the fuel pressure next, before replacing any parts this would of eliminated replacement of parts not needed, if ya dont have the right fuel press how did they come up with, you needed fuel lines cleaned, sounds like they started at the wrong end of (Trouble shooting.)
Your getting ripped off, I fix many vehicles and you need a new mech, just my opinion-
SOURCE: Is it a fair price
That's way to much, here at my repair shop, we charge $550.00 with tax, take it to an indenpened shop for repair's, you will get the same warranty, if not better, and no not a fair price, you could almost buy two fuel pump's with labor if you let the dealer do it.
SOURCE: During the summer time it
What causes this is ussually the oxygen sensor. It works when the engine heats up and if its no good, it will run your engine lean or even shut it down. check them and replace them. They should be done every 2 years.
SOURCE: Fuel pump not always on
Did you reset the inertia switch that shuts pump down in case of collision?
