Take off the wheel there are two bolts on the end of this sliding caliper ...two bolts hold the calipers on the bracket. next you have to push the cylindar back either by clamp or open the bleeder screw half turn push the piston in . check the rubber seal . now install use black synthetic grease on two sliding pins not bolts! ...and lightly i mean lightly coat the back of the pad . this will reduce the record player effect the noise. your disc should be on a lathe or get new ones . i reccomend not pushing the piston in forcing the fluid from the caliper rushing it to the top of the brake system..

Is there a fuel filter on an '05 Chevy Aveo LS 1.6?

It doesn't have a filter, only the fine mesh nylon intake sock on the fuel pump (never needs service unless the pump is replaced). Why do you ask?

My emergency brake cable broke on my 2004 Chevy aveo, I picked up a new cable at the local dealer and haven't found any instructions on how to change it out. My main concern is how to attach it back onto...

You have to disassemble the rear brakes on that side, run the cable from the front to back. Hook the cable onto the brake acentric located on the brake shoe. ONLY TAKE ONE SIDE APART AT A TIME, so you can use the other side as a guide so you know where and how everything' goes

BRAKE LIGHTS AND SHIFT INTERLOCK NOT WORKING

Hello Joe...The Aveo has had it shares of problems, and this is one of them....NHTSA issued several bulletins on the 04 Aveo...this following is the one pertaining to the shift interlock.....

Make : CHEVROLET Model : AVEO Year : 2004
Manufacturer : GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
Service Bulletin Num : 070730007 Date of Bulletin: APR 01, 2007
NHTSA Item Number: 10022265
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
Summary:
AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER MAY NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK (REPLACE BRAKE TRANSAXLE SHIFT INTERLOCK (BTSI) SOLENOID). *KB

Take that bulletin number to your dealer and see if they can help.

Untill you can get it repaired heres a little tip for getting it out of park....There is a a little hole in front of their gearshift lever that can correct the problem, temporarily. It should say "brake interlock release" or something like that. With car running, put a key-size object into it and push down while moving the lever. It does not damage the transmission, it just releases the lock. (make sure your foot is on the brake)

Now for the brake light issue...do you have power at the switch you replaced? If so go to the relay and check there...if no power there it's probably a bad ground.

Also...you may or may not know, but the timing belts on these Aveos are prone to failure at aprox 50k ...these failures have caused severe engine damage.
Good luck...i hope the information i've provided you find useful.

Rear brake lights wont work on our 2005 chevy aveo ????

It sounds like you should check for power at brake pedal switch. Hook up a test light to the switch and press the brake pedal. If the light does not go on and you have power in the wires to the switch then the switch should be replaced.
I hope this helps you out

Brake lights

My daughters' brand new 2004 Aveo kept having dead batteries(we were on vacation). Finally someone noticed the brake lights were on and it was determined to be a problem in the gear shift, good luck! The engine thermostat is plastic and melted off causing fluids to get into the pistons. We argued and argued and finally Chevrolet picked up the bill for the engine being rebuilt. Then, the windshield cracked with no point of impact, cracked all the way around front window. The fuse keeps blowing on the power windows and now oil light is on and won't go off. Had new oil filter and oil change done. Hate this car!
