Remove the wheel and take off your brake caliper. Once you have the wheel off, you will see a dust cap in the center of the wheel. Remove the dust cap by using a pair of channel locks, don't use something to pry it loose as this will cause it to leak grease later. Once you have the dust cap off you will see inside a castle nut held in place with a cotter pin. Remove the pin and unscrew the nut. This will allow the rotor and bearing to come out. Replace the bearing with the new one using a high temp grease to grease them.... IMPORTANT: when you grease the new bearings make sure to grease them thoroughly. Put a glob of grease in the palm of your hand and slowly dab the sides of the new bearings in the grease (this will allow the bearings to be greased on the inside).... Put back together as you found it. NOTE: When tightening the castle nut, tighten it down tight and then release it a quarter turn back before before inserting the pin to hold it back in place. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

PS Sorry I forgot and just remembered... when you have the rotor off, if you have problems getting the inner bearing off it the best way to remove it is to put the rotor back on and attach the castle nut again. Next **** the bearing against the castle nut. This will cause the bearing to catch against the nut and pop out. Very easy and useful trick!

Can you remove the driver side cv axle from a 2005 Chevy asteo van AWD permenanlry

The CV axle stub (end with the axle nut on it) supports the wheel bearing, removing the axle then driving on it would cause the bearing to wear prematurely. I would not recommend this. The front differential is also sealed by the cv assembly, removing it would cause the diff fluid to leak out . CV shafts for this van run $50-80. I would replace if it is bad, instead.

Clicking noise from left front side

were you in 4wd, or have the AWD option
1month ago.?
we dont know what options you have nor where your tires are touching
(ice,dirt, pavement)?
or what mode.
i recommend, opening the glove box and reading the operators guide.
and first finding out which system you have (options)

do not ignore clicking , if in 2WD or AWD.
check for loose log bolts.
check for bad brake parts. (big danger there, huh?)
and check for bad wheel bearings.
any mech can do that fast.
ask one.

Is 1997 plymouth voyager front wheel or 4-wheel drive?

the voyager was avable with either FWD or all wheel drive, you will need to look under the van for a drive shaft going to the rear of the van, the AWD models were very rare, and all had a AWD emblem on the back door.

My 1998 awd astro van developed a grinding noise

Assuming...you get the noise with the vehicle moving; try loading up one side at a time by doing lane changes when you hear the grind. If the noise increases & then decreases as you go from side to side then you probably have a bad wheel bearing. Also, You could just have a pebble caught between the backing plate & rotor! (they have a tendency to fall out quickly)

97 ford explorer awd bad right front cv joint

Yes you can, If you have taken the front drive shaft off, you can even still drive with the CV joint in place till you want to remove it. You may get some vibration around corners till you replace the CV joint or remove it totally.
But if your going to remove it, might as well wait till you have the replacement so you only do the job once. I had a Bad CV joint on a AWD Chevy van and did the same thing so i could still use it, and then replaced the CV joint when the weather got better.
Good luck and hope this helps.
