It is the top of your motor where your throttle tube connects to the engine..it covers all six cylinders to get air to them...basicly there are three main parts of an engine..the block that holds the Pistons, the intake manifold on top and the exaust manifold on tne sides to allow Pistons to exaust..I hope this helps..if your looking to change replace gaskets..faily major job..good luck..
have you changed the tires or rims from the original size?? If so, your vehicle's ECU will need to be re-calibrated so that the computer will adapt to these changes.
inner fenderwell and anything attached to it must be removed. you didn't say which side-driver's side e.g.r. tube needs removed before manifold , you'll need a 1 1/16 crows foot wrench. remove exaust pipe then manifold bolts then manifold .clean both surfaces to insure good seal reassemble.this is a 4 to 8 hr. job best left to a pro.
Several things can cause this. 1. Your engine is overheating because it is low on Coolant or Oil. 2. Your water pump is not working correctly and the engine is overheating. 3. You have stuck valves or blown head gasket. 4. Your block or Head is cracked. 5. Your Thermostat is stuck. Each of these has it's own trouble shooting steps and repair procedure. I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual for your make and model of vehicle to get a good reference for the trouble shooting and repair you will be doing. It has diagrams, step by step instructions and pictures of the repairs you'll be doing as well as testing procedures. You can get this from Auto Zone or just about any Auto parts store.
There should be 2 motor mounts at the front of the engine. Yes take them off this allows you to roll the motor forward and work on the back side.Leave the manifolds on the heads disconnect the crossover pipe between them and unhook the one exhaust pipe on the back side leading under the car. also if you go to Autozone.com and register no cost look up repair manual for your car it gives you a step by step for a head job torque specs and all
