Too many variables here. Is there fluid in the master cylinder in the rear brake portion? Does a brake warning light come on when the brakes are applied? Is the pedal solid when braking or does it feel spongy? You could have a problem with the metering or proportioning valve. Since brakes are a safety item I suggest you check with one of the shops that offers free brake inspections.
