EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) obd II code
Most of the time when the EGR vavle code causes the "check engine" light to come on, it's not the valve itself, but instead, it's the pipe going to the valve. This pipe gets clogged with carbon build up, and even the valve itself, gets clogged. To save a lot of money, try this instead of buying a new valve.Find the valve (usually at the top of the motor and there is a diagram under the hood showing where it's at) it's a round valve with two bolts holding it in place and some wires on top of it GM models and a vacuum line on Ford models, but i've seen it with a vacuum line on top of it on a lot of imports too.but on all models, there is a pipe at the bottom, and this pipe is usually the culprit.Just take a wrench and take the nut holding holding the pipe to the valve off, then remove the two bolts holding the valve on.take carburetor cleaner and spray the pipe very liberally. Now, while the valve is off spray the bottom of the EGR valve. Then take a small wire brush and scrub the pipe and valve.Reassemble , putting the valve back on the pipe and putting the bolts back on.Be sure to put the vacuum hose or the wired plug-in back on the valve. To reset the "check engine" light,(because it won't go off until it's reset), simply unplug the positive battery cable from the battery, and leave off for about five to ten minutes, then plug it back up, and see if that will help. This could save you at least $150. I hope it helps.
soak it with penetrating oil for a week.
