Re: air suspension on my grand marquis comes on with...
What is probably going on is the air suspension has a leak so the compressor is breaking down. So it will run at odd times trying to make up for the times it can not run. What you need to do is look for a conversion kit. The conversion will stop all problems that you are having now and you will never have to worry about it again. I would recommend strutmasters.com. They have great prices and there kits are guaranteed to last the life of the car. I posted the link below so you can take a look.

Air suspension on my 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis works perfectly but Check Air Suspension light comes on. The problem will not code on the computer. How can I disconnect the light?
Re: air suspension on my grand marquis comes on with...
This is the leading cause of suspension air ride problems. These boots on the strut are notorious for becoming dry rotted and leaking very slowly over time. try this link for parts. http://canada.strutmasters.com/grand-marquis

In this video I change an air suspension compressor on my 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis. The old ...
What is odd is the compressor stopping after so short a time. It may be your only problem.
When you have a leak in the system, the compressor keeps running because the sensors do not signal for it to shut off. On your vehicle it is either being told to shut off prematurely or the compressor is triggering a circuit breaker.
There are ride height sensors on the rear. If the vehicle was lifted without turning off the Air ride, the sensors may have been stretched.
You can check for air leaks in the suspension bags, and air lines using a spray bottle of soapy water. There is also a Master dump valve that should be ahead of the Drivers front tire/radiator well area. It is not a concern unless there is no pressure in the system.
Finally, just as the engine can express diagnostic Codes, so can the suspension. You need a better scanner to do this function. It is the quickest way to find the problem.
You do have a leak and it is one or more of the air suspension springs, I have seen this same scenario dozens of times on Ford products with air suspension.

The air suspension control module is diagnosed using Super Star II Tester 418-F045 (007-0041B) or equivalent.
The test connector used to communicate with the air suspension control module is located on the RH side of the luggage compartment.
When the tester is connected, the engine is started and the HOLD/TEST button is latched down, the air suspension control module will respond sending a code 10 to the Super Star II Tester which represents "Diagnostics mode entered." If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 10 is not displayed, go to Pinpoint Test A. Air Suspension Control Module Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index

They may have hit something underneath with the lift table.
You might want to check the fuse panel and switch the suspension button off and on a few times. It should have coded on the dash.
The dealer should have a diagnostic plug to fit your vehicle. Its the least he could do to diagnose a problem he may have caused.
The compressor is in the drivers front sitting low on the frame and about even with the oil filter on the engine. Remember it may still have pressure.
Try calling several Autozone stores and see if the have a scanner for the air suspension.
There are height adjustment sensors under the car and it may be that a sensor got smashed or failed. I remember reading this tech stuff about 20 years ago for a 1988 LSC. As long as the air is not leaking and the compressor runs its a plus.
I always recommend going to a Salvage yard and asking about the parts and asking if I can look at where the parts go. That way you are not tearing up your car trying to do something you don't have tools for.
It sounds to me like your compressor got killed. What probably happened is that the airbag got a hole or tiny crack in it so the compressor has to work extra hard because it is like blowing up a balloon with a hole in it. Therefor the airbag killed the compressor. I would recommend going to strutmasters.com and taking a look at our conversion kits. these convert you from the airbag to a powder coated American made steel coil spring that is guaranteed to last the life of the car. I added the link below so you can check it out. http://www.strutmasters.com/mercury-suspension-parts-s/25.htm
first of all there is no air suspension in the front does the compressor come on? If it does check for a hissing noise in rear, the air bads have a tendency to dry rot and split
