sounds to me like you need a new head gasket. top off your coolant overflow bottle. run vehicle as if nothing was happening and in few days check level of coolant in the bottle. OR you can check the cylinders for coolant intrussion by removing all 4 spark plugs in the morning after you use the car the day before. You will most likely find coolant down there. (check to see if the pistons are nice and clean on top / washed by the coolant) I have done a few and have seen a few beeing replaced for the same symptom. RUNS ROUGH FOR FEW SECONDS AFTER START UP. Thats the coolant in cylinder washing the plug down, resulting in misfire until the coolant burnes of inside the cylinder, that's when the car will run OK. Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: speedometer, odometer, cruse control & tranny overstopped working

If it has antilock brakes, the sensor is on the top of the rear differential. This sensor usually drives the speedometer. check the sensor for an open in its windings and also the wire that connects to it for any breaks.

Cruise control problems

Your cruse diaphram that operates your engine speed (hooked to carb or throttle body by a long cable usually) is leaking its vacuum, has a hole in the diaphram, or the supply hose is leaking.

Turn cruse on light on dash shows to be on but will not set speed ?

There is a switch that links the brakes to the cruse control unit it works off the brake light switch . You see the crouse control needs to know when the brake is applyed so if you hit traffic it will shut it off . This is likely your problem look under the dashboard it will be close to the brake switch on the top of your pedal and have a wire connecting to that switch

Hello and thank you for using FixYa!

I think you mean the code is engine speed sensor. This is caused by a crank sensor on it's way out. I would have the code double checked by a professional, and have the repairs done to correct this. Cause if it's what I think it is, a crank sensor will leave you stuck.

Thanks Jay!

Hi,

Ok it sounds as if the throttle gut stuck . This could be a bad throttle cable or return spring on it but i would say the cable is getting bad inside of it where you can not see it . I would recommend replacing the cable first.

Cannot find cruise control

hi there
you will find a switch some where near the dash light dimmer switch that will say off and on
what you need to do
  1. have the car going in a forward moton and doing 40kph or more
  2. when you have reached the desired speed that you wish to set you need to turn the cruse control on then at the strearing wheel you will see a button saying "set"
  3. once the light on the dash bord has come on then you can take your foot off and it should remain at the speed you set it at.
now some tips and did you know
  1. when you have set a speed you can increase it by pressing the plus or minus button to either increase or decreas your speed and it will automatically remember it
  2. when you want to over take and you have your cruse set at a speen you can use the exelaretor to go faster and once you have passed you can press resume to go back to the speed you where doing before you applyed more power
  3. did you know cruse control is more economical then usng the exelarator it can save you fuel.
  4. do not use cruse control in wet weather as it can cause a skid if you hit a p[uddle of water laying on the road
  5. to stop the cruse form working just put your foot on the break

hope this helps

Cruse controll

Pull up on the brake pedal. If that does not work check your brake light bulbs (LED brake lights will also keep your cruise control form working). Finally check all of the fuses. This system needs at least 3 different fuses to work properly.
