SOURCE: check engine light on.

the problem is with the catalytic converter, there is a specific emission threshold that the exhaust must maintained. when it falls below this, you get this code. i just had to replace my converter for the same problem

SOURCE: p 0138 code

A code P0138 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty O2 sensor
  • Short to battery voltage in O2 sensor signal circuit
  • High fuel pressure (not as likely)
you can get a code scan tool to clear the fault code

Testimonial: "I did clear the code and the light has not come back on, that was a couple of months ago. It might have been a one time thing. I thought it would need an oxygen sensor but will see if it comes back, Thanks SG."

Possible causes
- Faulty Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Exhaust gas leaks Help with this
When is the code detected?
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detected the HO2S12 sensor has reported a lean condition for an extended period during an intrusive test
Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- High Fuel Consumption
- Excessive Smoke from Exhaust
P2270 Description
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) supplies a voltage of about 450 mV between the HO2S high and low signal circuits. The oxygen sensor varies the voltage over a range from about 1,000 mV when the exhaust is rich, down through about 10 mV when the exhaust is lean.
The PCM monitors and stores the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) voltage information. The PCMevaluates the HO2S voltage samples in order to determine the amount of time the HO2S voltage was out of range. The PCM compares the stored HO2S voltage samples taken within each sample period and determines if majority of the samples are out of the operating range.

Its not a P0300 it's P0032 and P0038

code p0032refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1-heater control--circuit high===causes --wiring short to positive--HO2S sensor--ECM
code p0038 refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 2 bank1 heater control --circuit high===causes --wiring shorted to positive --HO2S---ECM
It is most important that when installing /removing the sensor that the correct tool is used to prevent damage to the wiring for the sensors. Severely twisting the wires during installation/ removal will result in the causes for failure listed.

Will not start p2045 p2197 p0190 p2247 p2245 p2248 p2249 p2518 comes up

code p2045 refers to reductant temperature sensor--high input==causes --wiring faulty sensor
code p2197 refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S)1 bank 2-- signal stuck lean===causes HO2S---fuel pressure---injectors---intake leak
also refers to oxygen sensor (O2s)1 bank 2 -signal stuck lean===causes--O2S--fuel pressure---injectors---intake leak
also refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 1 bank 2--implausible signal===causes wiring---short to ground--short to positive--HO2S---ECM
code po190 refers to fuel rail pressure (FRP) sensor-circuit malfunction===causes --wiring ---fuel rail pressure sensor---ECM
code p2247 refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2s) 1 bank 1 reference voltage--open circuit===causes--wiring ---ho2s
also refers to o2s 1 bank 2 reference voltage ---open circuit===causes wiring---o2s
also refers to HO2S 1 bank 2 ---no signal===causes wiring--ho2s---ECM
code p2245 refers to HO2S 1 bank 1 --reference voltage --circuit low===causes--wiring short to ground--ho2s also refers to o2s 1 bank 1 circuit low===causes wiring short to ground--o2s
code p2248 refers to the ho2s I bank --performance problem===causes --wiring--ho2s
code p2249 has the same causes short to ground---ho2s and o2s
code p2518 refers to a/c refrigerant pressure sensor B ---circuit high===causes wiring short to positive--a/c refrigerant pressure sensor.
so after all that replace all the ho2s and o2s sensors using the correct tools so that the wiring is not damaged and check the wiring back to the ECM for burns and rub marks.

P0131 sabb 93 2001 po121 error codes

P0131 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 (sensor is before the catalytic converter)

Possible causes- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks
P0132 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1
Possible causes- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks

I am not really sure what is going on here with the same O2 sensor giving these lean and rich codes, if nothing else is apparent and the engine runs well you may have a defective O2 sensor.

I have p044 code for Camry 2004

P0044 - HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 3)

The P0044 is set when the ECM detects an excessively high voltage through the heated oxygen sensor heater circuit

Oxygen Sensors (O2S) or Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S) need to reach a minimum operating temperature of 750 degrees F to produce an accurate voltage signal. The faster the heated oxygen sensor reaches that temperature the faster the sensor will start sending an accurate signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

In order to achieve the require temperature, a heater element is included inside the heated oxygen sensor. The ECM controls the heated oxygen sensor heater element based on signals from the engine coolant temperature and engine load. The ECM controls the heater element circuit by allowing current flow to ground.

Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

Possible causes
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 3 circuit open shorted to ground
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 3 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 3 circuit
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 3 circuit fuse
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

The ECM monitors the voltage signal received through the heater element circuit and determines the state of the circuit by comparing the voltage detected with the factory specifications.
