I have a 2011 silverado 2500HD, it throws a PO690 code. what is strange is that once you clear the code you can start it twice with no code, seems like the 3rd start up gets the code. also noticed some times when i turn the key to start it that it doesn't crank right away kinds of a delayed reaction. ( bad ignition switch ??)

SOURCE: 1999 Ford E-150 Econoline Ignition problem

Did you ever try pumping the accelerator like 3 or 4 times before ignition? It sounds like a discharge problem. I had a scenario which I left the park tail light on for 3-4 hours, I didn't notice it was on coz I was in a hurry. When I got back 3-4 hours engine wont start, I had to use a different battery to recover the ignition. You can try changing the battery terminals or test a different or new batt.

SOURCE: 95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

sound like the tumbler is falling out, when you open the steering column there should be a hole where a small but solid object can go in.. this release the tumbler but only when the key it turn at a certain position you will feel the pin in the hole go inwards then you can slide it out...it could be defective or just need to place back properly..hope this help..

SOURCE: 98 Ford F150 4.2 Liter Engine will not crank keeps

Sounds like there's a grounded wire somewhere between the ignition switch and the solenoid. When you bypass the switch with the screwdriver you don't ground out the line, but with the switch the ground shorts the circuit, blows the fuse, and then won't start the engine.

SOURCE: I have a 1999 ford explorer 4.0 SOHC here we go

sounds like the idle air control valve to me, you might just need to clean it with some throttle cleanner but you'll need a new gasket that only cost 3bucks or just get a new one, I just went through this cold start junk myself...

My 2001 chevy silverado 2500HD 8.1overheated and went into safe mode, how do I reset the codes?

The best way is with a scan tool, but you can disconnect the negative battery cable For a few minutes ! Do you have a check engine light on ? Even if you clear the codes the light will come back on if there is still a problem !

You need a dealer, there is a real problem going on here, way over the head of any home do it yourselfer. The main reason is the special tools required to interface with the control modules that are throwing these codes
