Fuel pump does not work- 1999 ford super duty class a motorhome

I have a 1999 Aerbus motorhome on a 1999 Ford Motorhome class A chassis with GVW of 20,500 and a V-10 gas engine. The fuel pump does not work, the vehicle has 16,000 miles, the fuel pump shutoff switch appears OK and the 'fuel reset' light is not on. I have checked the fuses, replaced the fuel filter, and verified the lines are clear bact to the first howe out of the tank to the stailness steel fuel line (blue) but since the pump is in the tank and requires removal of the hydraulic jacks to remove the tank, that is my last resort. I want to check the power to the pump but need the correct wire color to the pump to verify power. Can you point me in the right direction

Check your vehicles safeties. Your ECM is probably programed for engine shutdown if it senses low oil pressure or low coolant level. Do a preliminary check.

I have been a mechanic for 15 years and have worked on alot of motorhome fuel pumps. 99 percent of the time it is the fuel pump that is bad. if you are getting power at the fuse you more than likely have a bad pump. I understand the thing about the hydraulic jacks they are a pain in the ****. sorry I can't tell you an easier way.

I have a motorhome 2002 V10 Ford Triton engine that is not starting. Engine turns over but it won't start, not getting fuel. Supposedly there is a fuel switch for the fuel pump. Does anyone know location

If it has an inertia switch, it should be on the passenger side near the door.
I would first check the pump relay to see if it is sending power to the pump thru the switch. And do you have a switch for dual tanks ?

1998 damon intruder fuel pump issues?

I have a 96 which had issues with the original ford pump at 28,000 miles. It would shut down after about 200 miles of continuous running in the high elevations. Col, and Wyom. Solution was to replace ford gear fuel pump with an after market turbin pump. According to the tech from the western states that this is common with high alt. and high temp running. ( have not had a problem new pump)

It sounds like you might have a clogged catalatic converter on the exhaust system.

I have a 1999 Bounder 34J motorhome on a Ford V10 chassis. I would like to carry a 400 lb motorcycle and carrier on the class III hitch on the back of the motorhome. Total weight will be under the 600 lb...

the only way you will know for sure is to try it. chances are it should be ok. depending on how far you plan to travel, you may want to have a front wheel alignment performed WITH the bike on the back, because if the front end moves up slightly it may change your camber / toe, adversely affecting handling and tire wear.

Ford F450 motorhome will not start

It may be the evap system. Could be as simple as the gas cap. try taking the gas cap off and starting it. If it starts then its the gas cap causing a vacuum. if not, then it could be:

1. Fuel filter.

2. Fuel pump. undo the fuel pipe into the engine and check to see if fuel is being pumped. disconnect the coil lead so engine doesn't start. Be very careful and make sure you put a container to capture the fuel.

3. If fuel is being pumped, then it could be the purge valve and/or vapor cannister. If these are faulty, it could cause a vacuum and vapor lock.

frankly, the fuel system isn't something you want to mess with if you are not a qualified mechanic.

try these easy forms of diagnosis to see if the gas cap is causing a vacuum, or if your brave enough, try the to see if the fuel is being pumped into the engine.

Good luck
