SOURCE: will start then dies

On the regals they have a ceramic resistor on the passanger side under the fender. It heats up and over time it tends to brake and the wire inside tends to rust away. The fuel pumps run in 2 different speeds. Had the same problem. Dealer only part yet the car would run and you would think it was the fuel pump. Turn the key it kicks on then start and dies out. Ceramic on the pass side would need replaced. It is white about 2-3 inches long or so held on with 2 bolts i do believe. Ill find a bulliten i found online to help me diagnos the problem. :) hopefully this helps someone out instead of spendin $$$ that ya cant afford with the recession eh?

SOURCE: loses power while in drive.

To what degree do you lose power and in what way? Do you loose over-drive or does it loose power and speed (on the streets, highway, or at any speed). From your discription it does sound like either a fuel flow/pressure issue or a clogged cat.

SOURCE: '94 4.0L Ford Explorer losing power

Shouldn't cost much for 10 minutes work to test fuel pressure & confirm pump condition, but do it when vehicle 's been running for a while, long enough for pump to get heated up.

Nissan announces recall of 747,000 trucks, SUVs in U.S. - Oct. 28, 2010. Nissan had a problem with defective relays. Faulty relays in the engine control module in Nissan vehicles cause engine performance issues including rough idle, engine stalling or inability to start vehicle. Need to replace the waterpump.

Hello, 1)Put sealing compound onto a new water pump gasket. Place the new water pump and new water pump gasket onto the cylinder block.
2)Connect the three bolts to the water pump and tighten them to between 15 to 22 feet lbs.
3)Reconnect the heater hose to the new pump. Install the water pump belt onto the pulley, making sure to adjust the tension on the belt.
4)Place a new o-ring onto the water pump inlet and install it, tightening the bolts to 7 feet lbs.
5)Close the draincock on the radiator.
6)Install the water pump pulley onto the drive belt, adjusting the tension on the belt.
7)Reconnect the negative battery cable.
8)Refill the cooling system with coolant to the proper levels. Start the engine and check for leaks when the engine reaches normal operating temperatures.
Thanks
