I have a 2.5 iron Duke in my Sonoma it keeps flooding itself out on start up any ideas of what the problem might be?

Hi Redman, I'm not familiar with the engine or the vehicle, but I can tell you what causes a vehicle to flood. If the vehicle is fitted with a carburetor the problem will most likely be with the needle and seat and / or the float level adjustment. If the vehicle is fuel injection, one or more of the injectors is leaking. If it is injection and an injector is leaking you should also check the oil level in the sump, as fuel will probably have leaked through from the combustion chamber, passed the piston rings and into the sump, contaminating the engine oil. If that is the case the internal parts of the engine will be very clean, but you'll stand a good chance of knocking the engine. Just a word to the wise, as pre-warned is pre armed. Regards John .

Hi my pulsar idles/drives allryt till it gets warm then when its warmed up it want idle at all and when you cruse it missis and compresor surges but put your foot up it and it goes fine

Please check your fueling system. While clod car need rich AFR, in contrary while engine hot , your car need lean AFR. This why your car is running bad while engine cold.

Runs as if it is flooding black smoke and missis

It sounds like a stuck or worn needle in the carburettor. It is like the ball valve in your toilet. If it is you will need to replace it and the seat. It is inside the carburettor and allows the right amount of fuel into the fuel bowl. Over time the it wears and the needle does not sit properly in the seat so it leaks. Some times it wont close properly if it becomes gunked up. If the needle sticks open the carburettor floods and nothing works properly. It is a simple enough fix to do yourself but a good mechanic should be able to sort it in about half an hour.

Not Sure What Engine to Replace Iron Duke in Fiero

I don't know if you listened to the insane person who previously answered but in a fiero w/o any mods you can bolt in a 3.4 V6 (1992-1995 Camaro/Firebird) or a 4.9 Cadillac V8, four cylinders I'm fuzzy on but I think cavaliers, corsicas etc. engines bolt in, you can do an ecotech but it requires ***loads of work. There is always the Northstar or 350 V8 option ;-] The point is, with a fiero, any engine can go in, just amounts to hours and dollars...
