My key to my Saturn 2004 Ion trunk will not open. My key does not unlock my trunk, and never has since I owned it. My trunk release does not work, I check the fuse and it isn't the fuse. I think I hit switch in the trunk that turned the trunk release off. I was told I will have to go to auto shop and get my back seats taken out. Is there anything else that I'm missing that I can do instead?

Check to make sure the button on the trunk latch is turned from manual unlock...they made that feature so only the key will work to open the trunk that way if someone breaks in the front of your car they can't hit the trunk release and get into the trunk...may be the same thing for your remote. Hope that helps.
I had the same problem on my saturn the solution i found on mine was there is a lockout switch onthe inside of the trunk you may have hit i had to pop the back seat down to get to the switch and click it off. I hope this helps you if you havent already found a solution to your problem
It maybe both. If the alarm is built into the ECM you can try disconnecting the Negetive battery terminal to reset the ECM. Make sure all the fuses are good for the alarm and for the trunk release. If the alram is not incorporated in the ECM remove the in-line fuse from the power line of the alarm to reset the alarm. This should resolve the problem if the problem is the alarm and not the release.
look in the owner's manual - the fuses are by the drivers pedals in the console. there's a chart in the manual of which fuses operate what; then when you take the fuse panel cover off it shows which fuse is where.
If only the trunk release is not working, did you check to see if the little lever arm switch on the trunk lid at the latch assembly is switched to enable the release? Mine came switched to the 'Off' position when I bought it and it took me a few days to figure that one out.
